Yeah and then record it with a cam mic, so it sounds like a SNES sountrack ^^ .
This Touchkeys mod for keyboards looks better for the price.

Didn't know about that. Now I want!

Wait! I saw the blurry image of a Timmy's cup. Must be somewhere in Canada...

edit: oh, deadmaus: duh.

I feel like the price of these polyphonic expression things is bound to come down in a few years... at least I hope.

Seen Jordan Rudess playing one on youtube he's impressive with it. It's good that someone is still thinking of improving keyboards without that attitude we wouldn't have aftertouch in our midi controllers but this new one looks and feels nothing like a keyboard so it's not for me. The price rules me out anyway.

Could someone replicate what Hans Zimmer is doing with the Seabord, by recording MIDI with a regular MIDI controller, and then after that use a computer DAW to tweak the MIDI later to get it to sound the same? The SeaBord is just transmitting MIDI messages, yes?

Oh Boy! Just when I thought his uber-fast playing couldn't get even more insane.

Hmmm. Two more days for putting a deposit on one of these at the intro price. The stage is $2999, with a $300 deposit. The deposit is mostly refundable if you decide you don't want. You only lose $60. Doesn't ship until end of next year. I have to admit I have trouble getting a sense of how expressive the controls are from watching videos. I wonder how much more you're getting beyond polyphonic aftertouch in practical application.

Then again, for the same money, one could buy a prophet 12...

I wonder when this controller will be so commonplace we can expect to see Seaboard Cat pics and videos?

:hihi:

Sorry, but the "Seaboard" is not really that great going by this video alone.

I'd actually prefer the Touch Keys project by Andrew McPherson:

Even Jordan Rudess is all nuts about this.

Yeah he's actually a consultant on the seaboard (as is Rudess).

I e-mailed them asking them to explain the differences. They sent me a very lengthy and friendly response, but they also attached a generic legal notice saying I couldn't share that info publicly. But it's worth shooting them an e-mail if you're curious.

It's worth noting that the seabord does have a proprietary synth engine built in. So it does operate as a stand alone digital synth. But I couldn't find any info about the engine on their website.

Anyone know what presets Hans used in Zebra?

+1 for Touch Keys. Much more impressive to me.
