I must admit, I haven't looked at it yet. Will deal with it next week or so.mabian wrote:Oh my... when did Unempty Dark Horse get those curvy shapes for modules? It totally slipped under the radar if it was like this already in 2.6... not sure if I like it though, somethings are a bit hard to read.

No Urs, just replicated:Urs wrote:If it was what I think it was then it shouid be okay now. The knobs seemed to update accordingly.mabian wrote:I haven't now the time to check this, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway to avoid it being lost in time:

Has it been dealed with in this update?
Thanks,

- Add VCF5 to FX grid
- Choose an EQ type filter - gain knob appears
- Click on VCF5 on grid - gain knob becomes drive knob
- Choose again the same EQ type filter - gain knob shows again
It's bad, isn' it?

When I first heard of the "Distortion Module", my cynical self said "Great... another output module with the usual crappy IMD..." But NO! I've been waiting for this for literally years, guys! A million thanks!

You can do this with a Mix Module on another lane, but I can see it being useful for complex patches.ariston wrote:...not sure, but would a "mix" button be useful?
BTW: you can patch this into the voice slots on lots of old presets for instant gratification... slot it into the default Zebra preset after the filter, max out the sustain on the envelopes, push the input on the disto all the way, and "Jump for joy"...

Might be a natural side effect? the tube modes noticeably softens attack.
..no, wait! it's just a polyphony VS switching it on thing!
after 16 key presses (in poly "many" mode) it's back to a normal attack.

To tell the truth...
I clearly have no idea what I'm doing with this distortion unit (yet)… But thanks for this wonderful tool!!
To be able to using distortion unit like a filter or some other modular tool is amazing… And tones this unit makes are so broad and varied! (thats what I was having trouble with… the hundreds of distorted shades vs the universe of shades in the REST of Zebra.
Several of my convoluted, clumsy attempts doing distortion enabled easily eliminated by just using the tool within the zebra
Now I know you've heard me say this time and time again, but it stands repeating… It really does…
I. LOVE. THIS. SYNTH!

If you go into Synthesis mode, you can adjust the Input and Output virtual knobs for varying degrees of distortion on the distortion module. Perhaps someone can explain why Input and Output adjustments sound so different from one another (that is: why does turning up in Input sound different than turning up the Output)?ariston wrote:Real quick 3 minute run-through: it sounds GREAT! Rectify is really wicked... a lot of tonal variety to be had just by tweaking pre and post tilt... hardclip has a nice fattening effect... not sure, but would a "mix" button be useful?
Anyways, need to spend more time with it later. First impression is really, really good! Thanks so much!
I have only played with the distortion for about 5 minutes, and I think it sounds very good. Thank you u-he!

2All: anybody needs new distortion transfer functions graph as I did before? Foldback is more classic now, Sth1-like. As the both old Shaper-Wedge/XMF-Folded stay with us, there is great variety of foldback curves now (both are useful in various cases)!
P. S. 2.6.1? I think that such GREAT ADDITION deserve less points in it's name.

Just kidding. No, that's why I phrased it as a question. The input is fed into the distortion, the output is just there to reduce or boost gain afterwards. I use the wet/dry feature in trash 2 a lot, I think it's really useful. Of course there are ways around this now, but it would be much more elegant.

I'm getting changes in the ultimate output (other than gain) with the output knob. Guessing it does just boost gain, but that signal feeds into the EQ/Cab/etc later, and that stuff sounds different as a result.ariston wrote: The input is fed into the distortion, the output is just there to reduce or boost gain afterwards.
Very cool module, really interesting to see it per-voice (should this have some '...' mod knobs? ModMatrix works fine I guess)

1. Hardclip/Foldback, Pre Tilt at max, Post Tilt at min results in DC offset and mostly zero any other sound. Be careful!
2. Urs, please tell about Tilt knobs - what they do? It looks like like LP/HP pre/post filters, but their behaviour more difficult, like additional distortion of transfer curve.
3. That a strong tool!

It'll be 2.7 - but we need to keep public betas at lower version because their "beta-ness" may make them easier to crack. In case of which I want all the freeloaders out there to know that they don't have the latest versiontrance_lucent wrote:P. S. 2.6.1?
