Talk about ear fatigue after THIRTEEN minutes of hysterical 0.2 dB dynamic range EDM onslaught!

My interest in Nemesis was piqued but after this auditory torture, it's reset to zero.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Is there a phase modulation trend in the making? TubeOhm, Tone2, who knows who's next...

To not mix up things Nemesis could do real FM, phase modulation (which was called "FM" in the DX7 but is no real FM) and also phase distortion (comparabale to that in the Casio synths). So i guess you talk about phase distortion?

Well, phase whatever :D No idea about the differences, I'm not really into that sound character, but I noticed that there seems to be a tendency away from conventional VA plugins and the word phase this and that comes up more often...

I hit the stop button after just one second, that sound is also like pain in my ears...

Is it me or does this youtube commercial remind you of Tv Shop?

Anyway looking forward to try it out when it is ready :)

Ultra-bright, cold almost painful supersaw stabs. Check.
Derpy N-64 melodies with pitch bends at the end of every phrase. Check.
Super predictable glitching that makes you wish Windowlicker was never the seminal track it was, even though you love that track.... Freakin' CHECK.

What you have to remember about tone2 is their marketing department aims this stuff at kids. They're the ones with all the money apparently. I just ignore all their marketing blurbs and demos, because if I didn't I'd never buy a single thing of theirs, and that would be a shame because I think the majority of them are decent people and their synths are quite unique and useful. I just wish they'd get a new marketing team or get them to "tone" it down :hihi:

Well but this is the truth  You will never be able to achieve the same sonic results with any other synth available in the market today. I think the video soundtrack speaks for itself.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but Nemesis started with the sentence "Maybe we can put together a small FM synth...". Has ended up being one of the most complete synthesizer I have ever seen.

:band2:

I am one of the kids and find the marketing annoying.

Post

I don't care about their marketing. I really like how their synths function and sound - that's all I care about.

So, I'll be will be buying this one. :)
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Post

Yeah for me too....its downloading their products and trying them myself that determines which ones I buy (although I have bought all their synths so far to date, well except Firebird)

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going to check it out. It's just... we have a word in Germany called "Fremdschämen", which basically translates as "feeling embarrassed on behalf of somebody else". I don't get WHY they feel they have to be so low-brow... they're not Crysonic, FFS. They make great products.

To be honest, though, the sounds in this film are anything but "unique" to my ears. This claim is pretty ridiculous, anyway, because I think the time when synth sounds could really surprise anyone is long past. The things we can do not only with traditional synthesis, but all forms of sample-based synthesis, offer a universe of sound. Impossible to chart. To be sure, the nuances, the niceties... yeah, whatever. Synth A will never sound quite like Synth B. But, more often than not, the differences are pretty negligible, especially in a mix, more so when you add effects. Feel free to huff and puff and disagree.

Anyways, enough "negativity". Bring on the demo, cause I will surely avoid the "meticulously designed" presets drenched in reverb and delay and psychoacoustic hodgepodge and see what I can do with the init patch.

i also find the video annoying... but will most likely buy nemesis. tone 2's marketing is terrible. but they have great and innovative products (maybe the only blurb i could tolerate), great customer support (bastiaan) and like urs they don't do sales which guarantees that once you have bought a tone 2 synth you will never feel devaluated like with other companies and their group-, anniverary-, christmas- and what not sales.

Post

That promo video is cringeworthy. Luckily i know that their synth are excellent. I'll probably demo it once it's released. Does anybody know whether they will have intro price for nemesis?
