A Host that does multithreading with one instrument? This needs som investiagation, would be a very useful feature..

Here's how I understand a multithreaded works scroll down the document to the heading "Audio Applications"

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan08/a ... 08.htm#Top

So if you have a CPU heavy patch and you want to play say four voices and it only plays 2 comfortably, then you could use a filter where all odd notes play out to one instance and all even notes to the other instance. I could use this trick with my two Korg Wavestations way back when..

Now fixed, I sent out a mail to all customers with 2 updated patches and a new PDF which has a nicer picture at the top.

Just replace the two Glockenspiel patches in Programs->"Mallets" with the new ones.

Thank's again for the heads up, Clement - something that I couldn't test here as the file structure is almost identical on all of my three computers/laptops.

Not having any other performance issues so far.
That's the only patch in this library which uses IRCAM Stretch mode which is very CPU hungry, as I wrote in the patch description on the info page. I can play it here with 2 voices (that's why I set the polyphony to 2 voices) both on a Macbook Pro and a Mac Pro with a sample buffers of 256 in Logic and standalone mode, otherwise I would not have released the patch as it is. The patch in granular mode just didn't sound as smooth at all and the normal stretch mode produces way too many artifacts for tasks like this.

Could you try drastically upping your sample buffer size in whatever DAW you're using and then try again?
Thanks...Got that patch working in standalone at 1024, but Studio One wasn't able to handle it. Haven't tried Protools yet.

I'll try in Studio One tomorrow (which I hardly use), I never opened MachFive in Studio One actually. Maybe I should make a Low CPU version of the Dist Duduk then. I hope the devs will improve the IRCAM Stretch mode CPU-wise in version 4, it's the best sounding stretch algo I know, definitely on par with Paulstretch.

Just curious, is there any option on your Mac to disable speedstepping of the CPU clock? On my windows PC, I find that MachFive prefers to be run with the "High Performance" power plan active, where the CPU clock stays at 100%. I haven't tried the specific patch you mention yet, but do remember that the IRCAM Stretch oscillator especially benefits from the High Performance power plan.

Anyway thanks for the great feedback so far!

A cursory search for this suggests the Mac does not allow access. Possibly there is command line access through the terminal, which is slightly above my paygrade.

And a small post-release bump.

Thank you Simon for a remarkable library. I know this must have been a great deal of work. The programs sound amazing and the excellent documentation, images, and playing suggestions all make this an outstanding library. Some very unusual sounds, the water phone programs and Tibetan bowls are particularly inspiring. This library really takes advantage of what Mach Five offers, and also helps me to understand how to use M53 that much better. Well done!

Thank you for the flowers, Ben! I appreciate your appreciation of the details :)
I'm very glad, I included the waterphone in this first volume, these sounds sound really special to my ears, but I have quite a few personal favourites really.
