I created both the original and updated Shreddage II FX patches. I can confirm that you can delete the first version - the updated version is backward compatible with any existing MIDI sequences, in that the new sounds are mapped above and below the old ones, rather than replacing them.

Zircon should be able comment on how to handle replacing the old Shreddage II patch with the updated one. I'm not aware of any issues with that but it's best to wait to hear from him.

Thank you. :tu: I just got word from Doug that it is indeed OK. :)

Thanks Zircon for the great work on S2v2! I've since picked up bass and SX and am starting to setup my new VI guitar channel strip setting templates. However...

I'm still getting used to Kontakt 5 - can anyone kindly point me to the best, least system heavy, most streamlined way to setup quad tracking with 4 mono Shreddage tracks into Logic Pro? I plan on starting with two "inside" tracks panned +/-20 ad two "outside" tracks +/-50.

Thanks!

I need to create a multi for it, but it's actually pretty simple (you can save one yourself!)

Load Kontakt 16out in your DAW. Load 4x instance of Shreddage II v2 first. Set everything to MIDI channel 1. Set the guitars to DT Guitar 1, 2, 3, 4 on the front (performance) page. For guitars 1 & 2, go to the engine tab, make sure Anti-Repetition is OFF. Then, for the output in Kontakt (st.1, st.2, etc. - the thing above MIDI channel) set each guitar to a separate output.

SAVE that multi as whatever you want - this is what you can load into any project.

Now to get those outputs configured properly in Logic, here's the guide straight from NI:

Shreddage v2c is now available. I've posted some links to this already but this version including let ring/sustain keyswitching and various extra bug fixes.

v2d is now available - just some minor fixes such as an annoying "array out of bounds" error, and full chokes properly working with quad tracking.

The heading in the title still says "v2c".

I noticed that when I posted the link to facebook but I don't see how I can change it.. the topic title has been changed, what else is there to edit? :(

I have been reluctant to really adopt the updates for S2 because of this one bug that I am afraid is still there in the latest patch. Really noticeable when you have high gain distortion.

Problem:
Multiple samples are played on vibrato. Chorusy, dual sound.

How to reproduce:
Either by Keyswitch or GUI, when you switch to any of the 3 "real" vibrato modes from the smooth mode (which is default). This problem started in the first v2 patch after the smooth mode was introduced.

This is why I never use anything but the smooth vibrato. However, I've noticed that sometimes the smooth vibrato can make a note sound off-pitch enough that it bothers me. It would be neat if we could change the amplitude of the vibrato.

Hmm... thanks for bringing this up. I'll look into it shortly. Should be an easy enough fix! As for the smooth vibrato sounding off pitch, the way it works is by bending the pitch only UP and then down to the original pitch of the note (since that is usually how guitarists would do vibrato). So naturally it will be a bit sharp.

That being said it would be easy enough to add a control to control vib depth too.

Thanks to Shreddage alone, I have come to completely avoid using artificial vibrato, thats why "smooth" never works for me.

no portamento slides for chords?

Post

Another little problem I have (this came with the original S2) is after portamento is triggered, the resulting note will not sound if Modwheel is active. And if the portamento note is ringing then touching vibrato (modwheel/cc1) will immediately mute it.
