Can't get ipad to control Receptor 2

Can anyone give me some suggestions as to why my ipad will not sync to my Receptor 2 using a brand new TP-Link wireless router? I followed Gary's Youtube video instructions exactly and my ipad keeps saying "connection refused. you may have a firewall blocking access. please check your connection settings and try again". Can anyone help?? This is kinda new to me.
