Why are we comparing apples to oranges here again...?
Mmmm more like Granny Smith's to Golden Delicious. There's an awful lot more overlap in Live/Logic and Reaktor/M4L than there is with Apples and Oranges.
Not really... Because M4L is integrated with Live, it's hard to draw a comparison of Reaktor and Logic or Reaktor (name your favorite host). Just look at all the tweaks for Push, and modulation controls built using M4L. Very different indeed.
Sure, different but you have to admit that much of what can be done can be accomplished with the other.

No, Reaktor doesnt have the ability to query and control <any host> the way M4L can Live. It has fairly deep hooks into Live; you could just about build something that looked like an entirely new audio host using Live as the engine. PLus M4L does a whole load of other stuff that Reaktor cant do, like video processing, text parsing, internet protocol handling, hardware interfacing etc etc

Its probably better to restrict it to saying that in terms of pure audio processing much of what can be done can be accomplished with the other, but M4L has a far wider scope beyond that.

I heard Reaktor is more advanced than max.

So is this a full new install? Or does it just 'upgrade' the Live 9.0 that I already have installed?

It installs the Live client and leaves the content such as samples alone. If you have a custom skin back it up before the install. When you run it, it will ask if it can uninstall the other version but it doesn't replace your preferences so no re setting up to do. It's around 700MB.

Ok thanks for clearing that up mate. :)

I haven't. I need to look into that.

I just finally had some time to mess with 9.1. I LOVE IT. It totally fixes a problem I've been having forever. Now I can create clips on the fly, stack them up until I'm happy and then drag them to the arranger and when I have a structure I'm happy with, switch on the fly to the arranger and loop a full song with all the changes. This, with Looper and Mobius allows me to improvise/compose a whole piece on the fly with no need to pre sequence stuff out. I know this sounds crazy, but nothing, not even Maschine has allowed me to work this way so simply and intuitively.

Er, that's nice, but I'd like to know more about your workflow and how you do that. Not sure I follow, but it sure sounds nice.

Ok...... I HATE the new font/displays

(seriously though, when checking modifiers, it's awful compared to how it used to be! )

It's easy. Put the drum/instrument software or external instrument in a track. Turn on the metronome and create a clip of desired length. Make a beat/sequence. Turn off metronome. Duplicate clip and add variation. Repeat until you've got a bunch of related clips with fills and what-not. Then start dragging them over to the arranger on the same track. (last clip is still playing) Make sure it's set to loop and set your loop points to a nice long song length. Drag clips to desired length and arrange them to your liking. Then, there's a little "play" button in the upper right of the arrangement window. Click it and now the song will start looping with no gap. Viola! If I hadn't used Maschine to upgrade to Komplete 8, I'd probably sell it. F MASCHINE.
