Came across this the other day, It's a video of Claude VonStroke going through one of his tracks, he talks a lot about the benefit of bouncing to audio as opposed to Diva it self though. Just thought it might be worth throwing up here though. He starts talking about Dive from about 2:25 on.

Yeah, sample chopping to the rescue… as DJ, I imagine he's good at marketing himself … but...
… as a synthesist, he's kinda weak (mystified by the Arp in Ableton… really?).
Oh well, at least he's making some cash at it.

How is VonStroke not a pornstar name?
Yeah, Diva is the industry standard. Last night it almost made me weep with joy. I was messing with the unison/stacking, something I've not played with much. If you have 6 voices and you turn on the envelope slop, you can get some really organic, ambient soundscapes happening. I wasn't prepared and was honestly blown away. I must have spend a couple of hours just playing and tweaking.
If someone can afford it, and they like analog synths, but they don't have it... they must have some kind of secret masochistic or self-denial streak

Seems none of VonStroke's video tracks can be played at Youtube. But according to what's visible at Vimeo, that's not too big of a loss.
Unfortunately his Diva stuff isn't on Vimeo, it seems.
Can't stand that lousy GEMA...

Needs to be updated now and again, but works perfectly over here.
Claude VonStroke... tch. Hihi. Hrmpf. Ouf. Best artist name ever. I am green with envy that I didn't think of this first.
With one fell vonstroke, he vanquished his vonenemies.

Sheesh... it's Google blocking it, not GEMA.HiEnergy wrote:Can't stand that lousy GEMA...
Maybe some movement comes into this now because http://www.vevo.com just started in Germany. Their business model obviously allows them to pay for artist royalties (I wonder why a billion munching corp like Google can't)

Because they enjoy the advertising revenue they receive from unlicensed videos with 5 million plays.

Not sure how relevant it is to Germany, but as of some time last year YouTube has implemented some policy that pays royalties to artists in (at least?) the U.S - in response to Vevo, as you observe. On the surface their policy doesn't seem really active or responsive on piracy. There's obviously a double standard for curating something that's bad and harmful to them, like child pornography, versus bad and harmful only to someone they don't have to care about. On the other hand despite foot-dragging maybe it's a first step.Urs wrote: Maybe some movement comes into this now because http://www.vevo.com just started in Germany. Solo cellist Zoe Keating (formerly of the tech industry) openly posts figures for income off of streaming stuff (ironically on Google Docs ...). YouTube isn't much, but more than spotify. Overall, streaming just doesn't generate enough revenues to be significant. She does argue there are indirect values of streaming, and makes an intriguing point that streaming services could do a lot to increase this indirect value - and benefit themselves - by collaborating more directly with artists. For example if artists could get stats about the online audience, or be more involved in managing advertising.
