Hello,
I beeing having some trouble with Quantize function in MULAB 5 version.
In version 2 I can select 1/8 1/16th after recording MIDI but in 5 does not seem to have that same functionality.
At some point notes are running over the bar and I can't seem to fix it by myself.
Beeing searching al kind of menu's but it is not getting any better.
And in some cases made a almost perfect drumbeat, when using Quantize function it becomes really horrible and certainly out of beat.
Not the way it was recorded.
Maybe someone has that same problem???
And more importantly how to solve this.
Greetings:Ramon

Well the function is not so versatile anymore as it was in the older versions.
I can't seem to have a different beat of Quantize after I recorded a MIDI session.
There is only the function Quantize, and that is it.
In version 2 I can select al kinds of beats even in the same MIDI recording when I select HiHat part and then Quantize that at 16th note and de bass and snare drum I can Quantize in 8th beats.
As an example of the problem I have with 5 version, can I select a different Quantize after recording MIDI??
I Always record without Quantize to keep more control over the played music..

If you open the piano roll editor you see the snap value at the bottom right. Change it as required.
Select e.g. 1/8 note, quantize and you are done.
If you select notes, only the selected notes get quantized. If nothing is selected all notes in the sequence are affected.
The only thing i am missing sometimes is a setting how strong notes are quantized. A 50% setting might even be enough. If you use it in succession you get 50%, 75%, 87.5%, ...

Hi Andreas,
Thnx for the tip, I will try this...
But not very handy by the way,in MULAB 2 there is a short Quantize menu that shows the degrees of quantizing and that works a lot faster.
For the strength of the quantized notes there is another way to fix this but have to dive in to M5 how to do this properly.
But have to be honest that I started using C7 elements because having quantize issues within M5.
Quantize in that DAW software is really improved in relation to version C5.
But some sampled based functions are just some handy in M5 so that's why I keep this on the PC next to C7.
Greetings and let you know how the piano roll did work for me:-)

Ramon i don't see what's changed between M2 and M5 in this context. Can you please elaborate on this, eventually using a couple of screenshots.RamonPC73 wrote:But not very handy by the way,in MULAB 2 there is a short Quantize menu that shows the degrees of quantizing and that works a lot faster.
Soon MuLab 5.3 will be released and it also has a new quantize function "Quantize Notes 50%".For the strength of the quantized notes there is another way to fix this but have to dive in to M5 how to do this properly.

I just started M2. The exact menu you are missing in the M2 quatize menu is now at the bottom right in a composer/piano roll editor in M5.RamonPC73 wrote: Thnx for the tip, I will try this...

Ramon
And, you can assign keyboard shortcuts to increase/decrease the grid, which make quantize even faster.

Well screens pics coming later because browser has some hickups at the moment..mutools wrote:Ramon i don't see what's changed between M2 and M5 in this context. But I just liked the Quantize Menu in 2 because I knew where to find it and don't see the benefit of removing this older menu out of M5 version but I'm not the programmer of the software..
I'm going to search for the piano roll in M5.
Mulab 2 was for me once a DAW software that was very easy to use but new version is a lot of hidden functions en menu's..
Often return to the 2 version just because it works a lot faster for me personally.
Even with the fact that the 2 version is not as powerfull as 5.
Pictures are coming later in this post.
