You are the ultimate consumer... They have you convinced that you are better off if you spend your money no matter what
Nah, I am a minimalist, actually. I don't have any car, simply because I don't want any.

And regarding synths, it is a lot of work programming a synth like Dune, it is a single developer, not a big company. What's wrong about wanting to pay for what one gets instead of the usual I want everything for free attitude? :?

I am a freelancer, and I don't like it when people don't want to pay enough for my work, I simply decline such jobs...

That is completely different than what you said before...

Nothing wrong, very nice, but what's wrong with getting a trimmed down version of a plugin for free? What you're asking is that ppl would get access to a product only if the pay for it - and IMO only the dev/published can determine exactly how a product should be marketed. If it was decided to offer a CM/BE version, it was done for a reason. Sometimes you gain a lot more with a bit of generosity ;)

I don't see any contradiction...

Depends what trimmed down means. In the case of Dune it is only missing effects, if I am not mistaken. That is not a real deficit as most people use external effects anyway because they sounds superior.

I don't have anything against free software, I still have Tal's free stuff, although I hardly use it anymore.

I don't have anything against generosity, to the contrary. U-he is also generous, they simply offer DIFFERENT free stuff, without a buyer of Diva feeling ripped off because there is an almost complete magware or freeware version of it.

Of course it is the developer who decides on their pricing policy. Just like it is me who decides on whether or not I like that policy and thus whether or not I buy. That is all that I am saying. I did not want to discuss my attitude, I was actually asking specific questions, which remain unanswered, though.

What was your question?

Basically what a new and upgrade license will cost. (I was asking about the upgrade because Dune 1 is sometimes offered on the market place forum.)

I just wonder if there is an intro price? $99 maybe? it would be great to know, so I don't spend all my money now and save some for Dune 2 :D
About an introductory (or even regular) price, we haven't decided that yet.

Note there will be an upgrade path from Dune 1. Right now Dune 1 is on sale due to thanksgiving, so with the upgrade path in mind I don't think you can go wrong. Also note that we'll probably keep Dune 1 alive anyway, due to the many soundsets that have been released for it, so having both shouldn't hurt :)

Thank you Richard for the reply. I have just spent all my money last two days

I will save for Dune 2 and hope it won't be very expensive :-)

Richard, since you said you'd like to release this month,
how about a nice little screenshot? PLEASE! Just give us something! :)

It would be nice to have sample capability too, something like Zampler,
just beefed up and bigger.

thx
