Well, you can tell google about any links, and get those taken down - that's the best way.

Yep, thats the conclusion.EvilDragon wrote:Mikael, just disregard it and carry on. Piracy can't be stopped and probably won't be for a long time to come, and there's no reason in fighting it - you'll just lose valuable time and energy.

This. And what manytone said few posts ago.EvilDragon wrote:Mikael, just disregard it and carry on. Piracy can't be stopped and probably won't be for a long time to come, and there's no reason in fighting it - you'll just lose valuable time and energy.
Furthermore, consider it like a form of advertising, some owners of the pirate version will be legitimate customers one day (if your quality/price ratio is ok).

Uhmm...i don't understand..
I mean i feel your pain, i went to the website to see your product(never heard for it but people talk nice about it in this thread so i am interested ), i only see that personal message about your product being warezed, i see your soundcloud examples but nowhere i can't find info on the product itself
Not even if i click on top main menu link which is linked to that same page with message..
Is it Kontakt library, is it sample CD, is it download what? Can you provide at least some screenshot?
Thanks in advance..

Cover art with link to product page.

Cut/pasted from the product page: "Darker Than Dark Within Bloom for Massive focuses on dark evolving soundscapes, pads, pulsating doom and ominous sequences. The library also contains thunderous sequenced drums from the underworld, organs, sequenced soundscapes, bass sounds, scary sounds, beautiful sounds and leads."
And while were at it. The bundle deal is on the index page

I'm not a warez expert but it seems to me that "teams" who do that are only concerned with the most expensive plugins/banks/...
Your bank contains 150 presets and is priced at 30 euros, which places it in the top tier of the pricing scale.
I'm not saying it is too expensive as a lot of work has been put into it (and it sounds great) but it's something to be taken into consideration.
I haven't looked at your website in details but a counter-measure would be to offer your existing customers a really good deal.
That way, whoever stole your presets (and liked them) will be tempted to buy them and get more at an excellent price.
I'm sorry this has happened you. I'm fortunate (or not popular enough
) not to have my banks on warez sites yet I know it's likely to happen any day.
But TBH, I don't think about it much.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I've got an email from one of the companies that search and delete all illegal copies from the interenet and they offered me their service giving me several examples (links to warez pages) where I can find my stuff. However I heard a theory that those links were created only to encourage me to make a use of their services and let them to earn some money.

yep, thats how i see it too.manytone wrote:Well from a fellow developer, I'll just say that I have watched this happen to our products for many, many years. So have 98% of the other developers around here.
Bottom line is that there are 3 types of people.....
1) Thieves - They would never buy yours or my products anyways.
2) Legitimate honest customers - whom we love and respect.
3)Dabblers/Collectors (with a sense of Karma) - who may find our products via warez, and may eventually become legitimate honest customers.
It sucks to see our stuff out there for free... but regardless of that, there are a lot of "real" people who know it is out there, yet still support us.
Chances are in the long run you won't lose real customers over it.
My 2 cents

mikael, i hope you continue to work and the people (your customers) who love your work will keep supporting you.
as i was younger i used warez too but this changed completely nowdays. i think many people turn from the first catgory to the second (pauls post above). also i think that most people (if not all) never turn back to category one if this once happen and thats a great thing really.
please dont feel bitter keep up your great work we will support you!
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I suspect I might get a lot of negativity for admitting to this but I used to be an outrageous illegal downloader. Games, music and music software was downloaded from the known places by the gigabyte. This was probably over 10 years or so ago, primarily through the student days though that is no excuse.
What I eventually found was that I only ever got round to using about 5% of the stuff i downloaded. I never learned how to use software properly and I never had a sense of ownership. That was particularly true regarding the albums I downloaded. I eventually stopped illegal downloading nearly 10 years ago realising that Id get much more benefit and enjoyment out of these things if I bought them. It "forced" me to spend time with things. No I own Live, Komplete and a whole load of other vsts and I really enjoy studying them as much as playing.
Now, the reason I'm sharing all that is to highlight that the sort of people who are downloading illegally are most typically the sort that would never have considered purchasing anyway. Maybe they will at a later date but who knows. In short, there is no real loss involved in a way. I can completely understand the frustrations but like others have said, it's not something you can stop. What you can be sure of is that the right people will buy your product. I hope you keep at it.
