I *REALLY* hate when this happens...
I don't use Massive, but I just bought one of your soundsets anyway. Just so you know there are people in the world who don't take advantage of smaller sound designers. Good luck in all your future endeavours.

Thanks for sharing and even more so, thanks for buying.TheoM wrote:Hi there friend, i am very sorry the thieves have stolen your work.liv wrote:Seriously pissed!
All of a sudden (some hours ago) the traffic to Leap Into The Void "Darker Than Dark Within Bloom" exploded. Followed the referring url's and found it on a wares site. Now with different links spread all over the place.
This is extremely depressing. Do they have any idea how much work that has been invested and put down when designing the soundset. Theres even a 50% bundle discount atm for crying out loud.
I wrote to the site admin asking for a removal and can only pray.
However, i write this to at least show the flip side with a good news example. if i hadn't seen this topic, i wouldn't have known about your presets, or that there was a 50% sale. I have spent the last half hour listening to all the demos and reading infos about your work, and I am sold. (About to pay now, don't want to miss this deal!) 4 banks and a massive unlimited subscription for 49 euros? (i just added to cart and that's what it comes to). That's a bargain. I think actually you got a couple other customers out of this very topic, and the pirates would not buy anyway. Especially not presets. The pirating thing is so severe, that it shocks even me to this day. Besides my best friend Ren, who has a bought Logic 9 and the few plugins he uses, i actually don't know a single other soul i have met over the years that has paid for ANYTHING on their often $5000 or more (in case of mac) computers. And i've met hundreds of local musicians over the last 20 years. The problem is huge, so don't stress as there is simply nothing you can do, other than be thankful for the HONEST people that exist and support you.
Best to you, off to pay now. Very excited!
EDIT : bought
what a bargain!
I landed somewhere around EvilDragons comment along with the many encouraging words in the thread and now find your story that you're sold
Should have arrived. Hope you'll enjoy.

This type of theft makes my blood boil. I buy all my plugins and sound sets and I am constantly poor because of it
. These people would not go into a shop and steal something but they would from a warez site. The argument seems to be they do it because it is easy and there is no realistic chance of being caught. This does suggest that these people would steal from anyone if they could get away with it. It suggests that a lot of human beings only don't steal because they may be caught. That lowers my opinion of mankind!

Welcome to the wonderful world of technology! where a kid barley old enough to drink was born with an IP address and taught how to use it before he/she could read. They can't be bothered to learn how to play an instrument, but they can download a cracked version of the most rumored best soft synth, the newest Ableton, and free versions of the all the presets they can stuff on their hard drives. They then go on Youtube to see where the play button is, put it on "beat port" and other kids EAT THE CRAP UP!
all that's left to do is put on the funky sunglasses and give yourself an uber cool nickname.
POOF ... Look at me ma, I'm a musician, no hands.

Theo if you still have Kore (I know you did have it at one time) there are Koresound versions of Darker than Dark and The Serpent that expand on the soundpacks by adding morphing variations to each patch.

I'm told it does - I'm not on Mavericks yet as some other apps I use don't work properly with it (eg Metasynth)

It's up for free illegal download...?.... brb......
I guess I'll also need to pirate Massive while I'm at it.... brb...
Naw, but seriously, good luck getting it taken down. I hope things work out for you.

And very good cents they are.manytone wrote:It sucks to see our stuff out there for free... but regardless of that, there are a lot of "real" people who know it is out there, yet still support us.
Chances are in the long run you won't lose real customers over it.
My 2 cents

It doesn't matter what you do, if you're a content creator of any kind, unauthorized copying always hurts.
BTW: I hate the term "Piracy" when applied to this; there are no weapons being used here, nor people being killed. I have to concur with Luftrum: there are FAR worse things that can happen to you in life.
I've seen my own work available as unauthorized copies 10 links before the legitimate ones on Google. The first time it happened was the worse.
Trouble is of course that it hurts the small much more than it does the big. Some "big" TV shows have actually benefited from the "free" publicity, and some producers have acknowledged this and its benefit despite the losses. But then, they have solid lines of revenue which most smaller developers don't have. Flattery won't put any supper on the table for most people.
As Paul says, "you won't lose real customers over it". In most cases, unauthorized copies just end up in the sub-basements of useless data stores. A lot of this is just about collecting stuff, not actually using it.
Any responsible user knows how much work goes into producing something, and it's up to them to make a responsible decision about using unauthorized copies of anything. In my small way I try to discourage the people I meet who have a detached non-committal view of this but most of the time it falls on deaf ears, much like the destruction of the "first-world" manufacturing infrastructure, the low quality and potential toxicity of many imported products, questionable practices of the corporate food industry, ballooning personal debt, loss of our fisheries, privatization of drinking water...
BTW, 50% off eh? Hmmm, let me take a look...

Comes with the profession. Gain customer loyalty and watch the money roll in. You can try chase revenue by making your plugins ilok but then it's hard to recommend your product.
Whenever I recommend an ilok product such as Soundtoys I feel like I'm being spat in the face. Soon as you get that product taken down someone else will load it up. People who use it without paying for and can live with it are not your customers anyway.
There will always be people who like to pay for it even if they can get it for free because they like to feel like they own it and are contributing to keeping the developer working.

Just runing thru your demo presets:
Wonderfully composed sounds, thoughtful, perfectly set controllers.
Brilliant work!
-They will remove the links after a few emails, same thing happened to me.
Cheers,
Joseph
