At first it my look like a stupid question for some people but it might not.
I think it is possible to find similar question in general, but i want Uhe to confirm or denie if it is true or not in their own plugins.
Doe 64 bit vs 32 bit make the difference in high end plugins like Uhe?
And the most importent quetion i think will be do 64 vs 32 bit Uhe plugins sound the same or not, because i heared that 64bit has better persigion but i do not know if it is true?
Thank u

They sound the same. Plugin being 64-bit or 32-bit has no relation to precision of audio calculations, it only relates to the host which loads the plugin.
Even 32-bit plugins can have 64-bit precision of audio calculations!

There's no difference in code between 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
On Mac however, VST2 32 bit uses older Carbon code, 64-bit uses Cocoa. that is true for every VST2 of any company, of course.

A plugin being a 32-bit vs a 64-bit plugin has nothing intrinsic whatsoever to do with the precision of its maths (or whatever) operations. A 32-bit plugin can do 64-bit maths, a 64-bit plugin can be doing 32-bit maths.chilly7 wrote:And the most importent quetion i think will be do 64 vs 32 bit Uhe plugins sound the same or not, because i heared that 64bit has better persigion but i do not know if it is true?
Unless something is wrong, or there has been a deliberate decision to change how one implementation sounds, they should sound identical.

I think we all should trust our ears first, and not numbers/versions. If you cannot hear a difference between different plugin versions it should be alright. And you should sleep well and not even bother about it.

I wouldn't think so. Even if there were differences, they'd be so minute you wouldn't notice them in actual work.

The reason i asked is that i have Ableton Live 8 Intro 64bit,and i do think it is amazing DAW but it is more for live or dj use, but i need something with super deep editing possibilities.Phil999 wrote:I think we all should trust our ears first, and not numbers/versions. So I recently swiched to Studio One v2 free adition and until i will aford to buy the full edition i will use the free one but it is 32 bit only and i was wondereing if will miss something, but now guys i will sleep better.
So 64 bit is only about passing 4gb memory limit and also slightly better CPU perfomance?

how much of additional charge on the cpu you have when bitbridge 32to64? i mean does it depend how the bitbridge is programmed or it's a general additional charge of 0,x % per plugin on the cpu that you have to deal with?
the additional cpu charge is the only thing that make me haedache when bridging.

It depends on the bitbridge. Reaper's is the most efficient by far.
