I want to send the midi data in a track to both a audio rack device to listen and to a midi device to be rendered by a separate application. I am using LoopBe as the device. Cant seem to figure this out. Thanks.

It's not an "audio" rack... ;).

Add a new rack. Right-click the output slot at the bottom and change to "Show Event Output". Set the output to where you want it to go.

In the rack holding your instrument, get space in the first rack slot by moving everything down. In the first rack slot, insert a send to the rack you just added.

If you want to see it working, insert a MuX with an Event Monitor in the new rack.

Thank you.
Your advice got me what I wanted.
Now I just I understood why.

Every rack slot effectively has audio and event ("MIDI") incoming connectors and outgoing connectors. An "empty" slot simply passes audio and event data down to the next slot.

When you insert a module, the module "plugs in" to these connectors. An instrument usually has no audio input and consumes event input, producing audio output but no events. So inserting an instrument module means incoming events do not pass down the rack any further. An audio effect will take audio input and produce audio output - it possibly has event input (for automation) but again produces no events. A MIDI effect probably ignores audio and produces only event output.

If you start playing around with MuX, you'll see you can set up patches with both audio in and event in and both audio out and event out. One simple patch could just connect the inputs to the outputs. Such a patch acts just like an "empty" slot.

The "Send" module is a bit like that simple patch. It sends both Audio and Event data to its target (letting you adjust how loud the audio is) but it also passes all its inputs to its outputs.

Never Mind... Got it.

How does one send events on a midi channel other than 1? I am monitoring the events generated on the internal port and cant seem to make them move off of channel 1.
Thanks for your help,

Where are you sending the events from? You need to change the channel of the source.
