Hi Vojtech,
does MDynamics Limiter using intersample detection, which is so important today, because of mp3 and AAC from amazon and iTunes?
Thanks and greetings
Marek

Hi Marek,
intersample peak detection is nothing else than upsampling
... It's just a term, that someone came up with to promote his limiter... But it's funny how people fall for it. Especially since such thing doesn't actually help for mp3 and other lossless compressions!!! It's about DA convertors which upsample themselves, so people compensate for it by limiting in upsampled rate, but that actually doesn't fix it either, because every DA has a different rate, different filters etc...
So yes, use upsampling, but that's about it, it won't fix any of these problems. Ceiling to say -1dB will. Even there you can have problems with overcompressed material
.
So the ultimate fix: Don't make everything so loud!

Sorry, but rather not, one should use it just once as the last item in the chain and just about any host has it now. It is pretty useless to be honest - with high-end outputs you may have 24 bit resolution, which makes it not audible at all. And with 16-bits you usually compress it using mpeg or something else, and that effectively removes it... And to be honest - did you try comparing dithered and not dithered recording? Because to be honest, I never could tell difference, after all it just adds noise, which is more or less silent...
