It doesn't open? Or you hear no sound? If the latter, if you draw in a few notes on the track, do you hear Prologue?mattasbob wrote:It looks right to me as well but obviously something is amiss here as the track you sent me does not work either.

And does other midi input work? (Notes played on a midi keyboard e.g.)mattasbob wrote:Opens in cubase no problem, but there is no midi out from thesys. It works fine running it's internal synth. So my original problem of no midi out from thesys continues.

If Cubase would include the VST Midi FX in the same menu as MFX (they call them Midi Plugins) that would make using Thesys and the like much easier.
After all MFX and VST (actually VSTi) Midi Fx have midi in and midi out.
Why not include both in the Midi Inserts and Midi Sends menus.

I spent over an hour today, starting from scratch and no matter how I set the midi and monitoring up I couldn't get midi out of Thesys. Anyone who is running Thesys in Cubase 7 windows 7 and can get midi out of thesys to another vsti please advise. Oddly I downloaded another vsti that produced midi out 7 Aliens Cantanya which worked instantly in the way explained by everyone to use thesys. I don't understand how to even troubleshoot anymore.

I have no idea either. Why not contact Sugar Bytes about it?mattasbob wrote:I don't understand how to even troubleshoot anymore.

Thesys in the VST Instruments rack under Devices, target instrument as a regular instrument track with the MIDI input set to Thesys?mattasbob wrote:I spent over an hour today, starting from scratch and no matter how I set the midi and monitoring up I couldn't get midi out of Thesys. Then you get Thesys up and running, (all velocities up), highlight your target synth and it should start receiving MIDI from Thesys? Highlight the Thesys instrument "track" to send any MIDI to Thesys?
I'm just starting Thesys but that is how I've had my small successes. I need more time to study it.

I sent him a project where Thesys is playing Prologue. It works here, but not for him - so I don't think the project settings are the problem.SODDI wrote: Thesys in the VST Instruments rack under Devices, target instrument as a regular instrument track with the MIDI input set to Thesys?

Thesys seems to be kind of tempermental.T-CM11 wrote:I sent him a project where Thesys is playing Prologue. I really need to buy a used Nook or Kindle just to properly read .pdf manuals while I dick with the programs.

Apparently the fix was to update the USB-licenser software for cubase. No idea why but thesys is running properly now and that's what matters. Thanks all for the help and troubleshooti tips.

What an absurd solution! I would never have thought of that...mattasbob wrote:Apparently the fix was to update the USB-licenser software for cubase. No idea why but thesys is running properly now and that's what matters. Thanks all for the help and troubleshooti tips.

I actually solved my first problems with a Thesys fix. Before you first launch Thesys, right when you put it in the Instrument Rack, turn OFF the internal synth. Then, pull up your Instrument track synth, highlight the instrument just once, then highlight Thesys and start Cubase rolling.
I don't know why that highlighting thing works, it just does.
