Happy new year everybody. Another year, a new KVR, and other MuLab challenges. Here is one of it:
I often switch between two sample rates in the audio setup (due to my weak netbook hardware): composing at 22 kHz, mixdown at 44 kHz. Everything worked fine until I added an audio file (in an audio track). MuLab now creates a new audiofile everytime I switch the sample rate, even if I switch back to the original rate MuLab. It's name gets longer and longer ...
I know it's a feature ;-), not a bug, but is there any workaround for my problem? If not, what if MuLab would re-use previously resampled files?

Happy 2014 to all of you too! :)

On topic: Yes i know what you mean. I already have a solution on file, it's on the wishlist. Reusing already resampled files indeed is the goal, but this also means there should be some timestamp/version checking on the audio files to see whether the resampled-X still is up to date wrt the original audio file. That (and another aspect)complicates things a little bit, otherwise it was already implemented.

I think It would already be ok if MuLab would stupidly overwrite an existing, previously resampled file (of couse not the original file), as long as it doesn't generate more and more files with long and longer names.

Sure, but that's the other aspect: Currently there is only one file path used and so if a file is resampled the file path is updated to the resampled one, and so the file path to the original file is lost.

I see.
Would it be an approach to persist only one (the original) audio file name in a session file and derive the resampled (and played!) file name from the orgininal file name plus sample rate? Resampling could be established if necessary, e.g. the derived file does not exist on opening a session or switching the sample rate.

(EDIT: I meant "audio file", not "sample file".)

Without going much deeper into tech details but that's basically the solution i've in mind, yes. Technically it's a bit more complicated as it looks, otherwise it was already implemented. It's on the wishlist.

Okay, I won't insist any longer due to this topic. Thanks for your fast reply.
