Unable to establish internet connection?

Hey,
I am really hoping someone can help me out.
I have my receptor VIP connected via ethernet to my iMac, i have no problem connecting receptor with the muse remote viewer. However when i try to check for updates in the service centre on the setup page i get this error message. 'service centre was unable to establish an internet connection how do you wish to proceed?'

I have tried everything i know to resolve this issue via turning internet sharing on in mac system preferences but i actually find when i do this the connection between receptor and the remote viewer drops out.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance

Hi Azanati,

How about getting an Ethernet Hub/Switch? If you put your ethernet-in (currently going into your iMac) as the WAN input to the switch, and two ethernet connections out (1 to iMac, 1 to Receptor) - you should be able to use Receptor Remote SW on the iMac to connect to the VIP, as well as have the VIP connect externally to 'Service Center'.

Hope this helps,

Hi Azanati

It sounds like you are connected to your Receptor in Crossover mode, in other words, you are using the RED cable that comes with your VIP to connect to your iMac, and then perhaps your iMac is connected to the Internet via WI-FI.

Crossover mode is great for viewing the Receptor's GUI remotely, or for backing up presets and installing new software, but unfortunately it can't connect to the Interenet in that manner.

Because of security constraints in Mac OSX, the RECEPTOR has to be directly connected to a network that is connected to the Internet for it to be able to contact to the software update server. So you can simply run a regular network cable to your WiFi router, and put the RECEPTOR into DHCP mode, and then verify that the RECEPTOR has a valid network address, and it should work fine.

Hey,

I have the same problems.
I tried using a crossovercable between mac and receptor (1 rev C). This was not working. Than I hooked it up directly to my router via a regular ethernet cable. Also: No success. It has an IP adress, it's set to Auto DHCP, which works fine. I can control it via the muse remote control. I have no firewall running in the router...
What's wrong?!

Thanks,
Chris
