Cycle OSX public beta

Hey everyone,
I'd appreciate some feedback on the current beta.
Find it here: (you don't need to sign up to download I believe)
edit- link removed (beta's over :))
Compatibility I need to establish before release:
- Logic 9 compatibility (seems fine from reports, small issues aside)
- OSX 10.6 & 10.7 (I have 10.8, 10.9 seems good)
Help much appreciated. Also if you create a 20 (usable) presets you earn a license. I've had a good suggestion - if you're making presets, send me a few before investing time in 20 to see if they fit my style. My email is daven.hughes@gmail.com. If you get crash reports you can send them there too, thanks.

Can't install it - it's saying my serial is invalid (using my own license key, not the one on the forum)

Installed okay (using Forum serial#) on OSX 10.9.1, but crashing validation on Logic Pro X (although a number of things have been since the 10.0.6 update) so am re-downloading needed components for Logic 9, and will try some other hosts whilst I wait...

Thanks. I hear Logic's validation is more stringent than Auval, correct? Or maybe it's Auval with a bunch of default options? I'm stuck without a Logic demo to test with... maybe I'll ask Apple for an nfr.

There are separate keys for OSX and Windows, slightly different algorithms - the forum serial is the OSX (beta) key.

OSX 10.9.1
Live 9.1
It installed fine and I can go through the presets and they seem to play fine.
On the various curves on different panes, I am unable to select/move points...
For example, the volume curve in the top left... I can add points, but not grab an existing point and move it. (default tool)
Pencil tool can draw a curve, but it does not overwrite current points so it also cannot edit/delete existing points
Axe tool doesn't appear to do anything
Is this buggy? Or I am just not figuring out how to use it?

Glad to hear it's working in Live!pdxindy wrote:OSX 10.9.1

There's a file Cheatsheet.pdf in ~/Documents/Amaranth Audio/Cycle. It will explain selection basics, shortcuts, stuff like that.
In a nutshell, you select with right click, add with left. Left drag with the pencil tool adds lines / vertices; right drag snaps vertices to the drawn path. Axe tool only works in 3D editing panels - it's for chopping lines.
Do macs still not have right mouse buttons? That would be bad.

Not as yet. It could be much smarter frankly. I tried fitting a tool parameters panel in the UI but there was no room! I can hardcode the tolerance to be greater though.
edit- what you can do is box select and delete redundant vertices. Check the pdf how to do that.
Now that I think about it, I did make some smarter curve fitting code to model cycles and impulses, I will reuse that for the pencil paths next update.

I have a mac running Mavericks, with Logic Pro 9. If that fits you, what is the serial (I am not in the forum). You can PM me, if you want.
BTW - Aren't registered users entitled to a mac version too?

If a point is selected and deleted, the following point could be automatically selected... then one can hit delete a few times in a row to delete consecutive points... anyway, I understand how to control a curve now.DavenH wrote:Not as yet. Thank you fmr. For various reasons, mostly because I like money, there's a 10$ upgrade price to a dual license. Aren't you able to view the forum as a guest? I can log out and still see the post. Either way I'll pm you the key.fmr wrote:I have a mac running Mavericks, with Logic Pro 9. If that fits you, what is the serial (I am not in the forum). You can PM me, if you want.

Also, is there a help page somewhere that gives an overview of how a sound is constructed. I haven't a clue how I would go about creating a sound from scratch.
Is there an init button?

Do you mean a tutorial how to create a preset or how the sound is generated via the signal chain? The signal chain is illustrated in the cheatsheet file.pdxindy wrote:Also, is there a help page somewhere that gives an overview of how a sound is constructed. Tutorials are something I've had to postpone while getting this out, but I did do one http://amaranthaudio.com/tutorials/modelWave.php and will do more soon.

OK I bought it to use on Mac primarily so can you send me a Mac key then please?DavenH wrote:aMUSEd wrote:Can't install it - it's saying my serial is invalid (using my own license key, not the one on the forum)

The cheat sheet helps a bit and the tutorial more... Is there an init patch or button to set everything to default?DavenH wrote:Do you mean a tutorial how to create a preset or how the sound is generated via the signal chain?
