Proof is in the pudding as they say. Tempest jumps straight to mind "analogue" "drum machine" not really anything more to compare when you think of kit profiles. (Think this may knock the roland of the plate!) pricing is going to be close to tempest Id imagine, bearing in mind the price increase Elektron made last September on their range. second hand market could be rife :)

Still tactility, work flow, personal appeal and of course sound is what really matters to the individual.

It is certainly appears tantalizing, promo video aside :dog:

...we will see...

Dayum! This new elektron drum machine just kills it - analog sounds with samples, analog filters and analog compressor <3 <3 <3 <3

Glad I held off from buying an analog drumbox last year! This might even replace the MPC for my uses, assuming this thing is also capable of MIDI sequencing external instruments..

Let's see how darn expensive this thing is going to be.

All it takes to get people excited is the word "analog?" I'd want to, you know, hear the thing first...

When it comes to Elektron it goes a step further for me than just hearing it. If the sound is good, and the tech specs are good, and even if I had the spare money right now, I would still wait about two years from the moment it goes on sale to buying one.

Elektron have a track record of bugs and build issues, that take about 1.5+ yrs to resolve from the item going on sale. God bless the users who can afford the time & money to be bleeding edge, for their bug and build-issue reports are what makes it a viable purchase for someone like me down the road.

to me hybrid approach of the device is the most interesting aspect of this device (i mean sampler, synth, performance pads and sequencer in one). i am extremely happy with md in terms functionality and i am fairly sure that this will be retained (workflow, sequencer etc). provision of more convenient way of live playing (pads) as well as other features make it more versatile instrument rather just drum computer.
but true, lets sit and wait to see what it is actually capable of.

One of the things that really drove me nuts about the Tempest was that it was far too generalized. There was a full synth voice in there that you programmed just as you would with any other general synth, it wasn't optimized for drums at all. I hope Elektron doesn't make the same mistake of (for example) forcing you to page around to tweak amp/pitch envelopes and so on, if they do it's a disaster imo.

Someone should explain to Elektron that "loud" does not mean "good sounding". Don't get me wrong, I like their machines, but their advertising campain is full of big talk.
Peace and tolerance

best analog keys video I've seen yet. The inserted close up on the screen answers a bunch of questions.
Now I'm a bit torn. I think the extra $ for the keys is worth it. sigh.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.
