*Can I ask if there is a stand-alone along with the vst? I'm currently demoing it under savihost. And one of PatchWork's features I find so useful is that it gives me the ability to add separate midi channel control over stand-alones that are strictly omni. This allows me to separate those VI's from my hardware synths for balancing patch creations. (Edit: Answered on another thread).

*Something else I noticed is that you state it has low CPU usage 'when idle' and I'm assuming the usage during play would be relative to which VI/FX and how many are being used at the time. So does Patchwork have a way to utilize multi-core support to offset that?

*And finally, do you have a 'bug list' of VIs with known issues that don't load or crash PatchWork?
I've been testing many in it, and so far, everything I've tested has worked great, except for three of the AAS VSTs and they are: String Studio VS-1; and both of the Strum (Acoustic/Electric).

(I haven't tried any Reaktor/Ensembles yet which is what makes me consider the multi-core use.)

Hi,

Thank you for your post. Please find below our answers and comments:
* There is indeed no standalone version (yet) of the plug-in
* The plug-in currently does not use multiple cores for parallel processing chains, but this may change in the future
* We do not maintain a list of known working/non-working plug-ins because it is plug-in/host/version/system dependent, so this would be very difficult to keep up to date and "official". We are however trying to track plug-in compatibility issues in this thread, based on customer feedback and our own testing.

Well, String Studio is one I would want to work and I'll contact AAS about it. It coming up with an error report is what got me to try the other AAS synths though. (As well as others.) I also couldn't load NI Guitar Rig 5 as it got lost in an endless search until PatchWork gave up with 'not responding'.

Perhaps a sticky for us members to list and see if some are having the same problems or found a work around to share could at least be started. At least, that might help us some.

Which host application are you using?

Post

As a stand-alone, Savihost.
DAW is Sonar X3d Producer.
I haven't actually tried it yet as a VST though. :)

Another thing is that when I loaded up Guitar Rig5 in the DAW last night, it had to rebuild its database since I hadn't loaded it since the last update and this may be why it 'got lost' in PatchWork also. So I'll give it another try today.

Post

So it loaded Guitar Rig5 perfectly this time, so that was an issue with the update needing to rebuild its database on first start.
That was of course, using PatchWork under Savihost.

I think I'm missing a vital step in getting it to work under my DAW as a VST though (Sonar).

BC Patchwork only loads as an effect? So I load a softsynth first, then add PatchWork and while I can load more VST/FX into it, only the first softsynth plays, so its obvious to me I have the order of operations wrong here.

Blue Cat's PatchWork comes in two version: the regular effect one, and another called BC PatchWork Synth, in the synths category. I guess that it's this one you want to use.

Post

I'll make sure the path points there, but now I'm wondering what the application is for using it as an effect?

Post

Re-installed it, everything showed up fine and works great.
