For the sake of accuracy, the "super excited" video featuring Woody says "released at NAMM".

..but we already know that Video was the work of a contractor (no offence to the young lady intended), but not something official from TSC.

I think you're all right though - I too suspect the intention was to release at / just after NAMM, then Woody & Dave got caught up partying, resulting in an epic three day bender, and forgot entirely about the videos.

As much as I'd like to download T5, I'd rather them launch it with as few problems as possible. If that means we wait a week or two, so be it. If they rushed it out with bugs and no tutorials, you'd be complaining about that. Relax already.

But Jules said the software is ready. Why not release it as a public beta?

I guess then people would complain that they couldn't buy it yet. There's really no way to make everyone happy, I guess.

I don't care, I'd rather have it now, even if just as a public beta. There will always be people that complain about something - I just ignore them.

Personally I would rather it was super stable at launch.

But I think it creates a poor impression to have other people showing videos of it when they haven't made any press release or web announcement of their own (whether due to drunkenness or whatever). I think they need to state clearly what the new version does and doesn't do, or else we continue to have speculation, and potentially that can be damaging.

Seriously though, I think the only frustration on the forum is due to poor communication, nothing more.

However good a product, it will often stand or fall based on the marketing behind it. Showing up to release a product, getting drunk and going home without even making an announcement - that's why a few people are feeling frustrated about this.

Maybe they thought it would be best to release it into the wild when they're back home and more able to deal with the inevitable stuff that comes up. Best of all, IMO, would be to have the release and the trade show completely separate. It's the folks here who care about whether or not there's a new version. It's frustrating when software is released and we can't get much help because NAMM. It's frustrating when we can't even get any information about a release because NAMM. And it's tough to imagine that anyone at NAMM who finds out about Tracktion would have clue one about which version is running and how recently it's been released.

But none of those things are as frustrating as being a father and realizing that the music computer has only been turned on about 5 times in the last year. Oh, and it didn't even get used all of those five times. Sometimes you get to watch it boot and then you're right back at the parenting bullshit.

Here are my steps to recording music when you're the parent of a small child:

• Come up with a great riff and melody.
  Start to record it.
  Realize your child is doing something enormously stupid.
  Deal with it.
  Come back six or seven hours later.
  Realize you've recorded the bass line and forgotten the melody.
  Give up.

Hey, I didn't say it was steps to successful recording.

Sounds very familiar.. mines pretty similar

- Come up with a shit melody, away from the computer
- Can't hear own thoughts anymore over the racket the 2 year old is making
- Give up on memory (and hearing) for a while
- Wait for Saturday evening
- Drink some single malt, because hey, it's the only day in the week that I can relax and do that
- Finally make it in front of the laptop at midnight
- Mess around in a DAW trying to remember what you forgot during the week
- Oh look, it's 2am, better go to bed because the little one wakes up at 6am.
- Repeat for the next few years

And still I will be buying T5, and look forward to 2 minutes staring at it, Saturday evening, at midnight, with a single malt.

I recommend 10 year old Laphroaig as a great 'drinking' peaty, single malt that doesn't cost quite the arm and a leg like some others do.

I think it's time now to take the drinking part a little less literal. There will have been drinking but I doubt the drinking and the delay are really connected.

That being said, would be nice to be able to discuss the actual software. Maybe Friday? Jules will probably be working weekends anyways, release or not
