Why should this simulation be restricted to guitar amps?
What if it were to also simulate the sound of cheap FM receivers, telephones, megaphones etc. by simulating their circuitry and physically modelling their means of converting electricity into soundwaves...?
Concerning guitar/bass amps there's already Guitar Rig and similar stuff.
Maybe Urs should create something that extends beyond the capabilities of those.

Distortion from really ugly to really harmonic and nice would probably find more use here.
Although an amp sim which doesn't rely on IRs for the cabs but instead includes a dynamic model of famous cabs... that would be s(l)ick.
