I have a project with many MUX VST instances. Loving so much the sound of MUX and happy that I built my complete own synth preset :) I decided to make almost an entire track only with MUX so I ended up with 9 plugin instances.
Here is when the problems started:
Sometime when I stop playing the project some MUX instruments continue playing the last notes like a never ending sustain. It looks like a envelope release issue. The workaround is opening the VST plugin window and toggle Process off/on button. This happens with my own built MUX synth presets but also with MuSynth instaces. It happens very often and is of course very annoying to open 1 or 2 plugins at a time to toggle off/on all the time.
Another annoying issue: I noticed some random slowness in the MUX interface (when trying to tweak some knobs or faders, when trying to open modules some times they open and sometimes not or with delay, click here and there in the MUX interface and other plugin or DAW interface). This happens only as long as I have a MUX plugin window opened affecting also Cubase and other opened VST plugins at the same time in the same manner. I made a test moving around MUX and other plugin windows while MUX window is opened and there is noticeable slowness in graphics (is moving almost in frames) and no, there is no CPU issue (CPU stays under 40 % all the time and VST Performance in Cubase show less than 40% usage also. I have an intel core i7-2600k with 24GB RAM and a GeForce GTX560 GI). Immediately after I close MUX VST window my Cubase and the other plugins are happy again.
I have another big project but with only 4 instances of MUX VSTs which don't seems to have any of the issues above. It looks like the slowness in graphics at least is starting to manifest more obviously after 4 or 5 instances. I made a test by loading only MUX plugins in a new project and with 8 I reproduced this issue, then I removed them one by one and it was less and less noticeable.
Anyone else experienced any of this on Cubase or other DAWS?

I have the same endless notes problem with Cubase 7 Elements and MUX:

i have created 2 tracks 4 beats long with single notes.
1. Track: MUX: Clean E-Bass
2. Track: MUX: Big Sunrise Pad

there is no problem during playback if one track is muted.
but if both tracks unmuted, start playback and stop after any beats, produces endless notes for any or both MUX tracks.

this problem only occurs with MUX and it's not reproducible with other third party VSTis.

Cubase Elements 7.0.7 (32 bit)
MUX 5.4.1 (32 bit)

AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M320 2.10 GHz
RAM 4 GB
Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit

Just a sidenote

Under MULAB - HELP there is a function called PANIC
Using this you can silence all instances in one operation.
It is of course also possible to make a shorcut.

Hope you get your real problem solved

Cheers
Sound C loud
Band C amp
Clicks and pops is all I get

Endless Notes comes also during playback!
PANIC function during playback is not realy helpful...
The only helpful thing is don't use the playback functionality :dog:

Is this repeatable in any other DAW?

Is it ONLY happening when playing multiple MUX instances at the same time?

Post

Please email me the two sequences (MIDI files) i should play at the same time but to different MUX Vst instances in order to get the hanging notes.

Post

My Cubase 7 Elements analysis results:
=============================
Endless notes problem only occours for unselected tracks during playback.
If all tracks are selected, there is no playback problem.

there is no playback problem with Music Creator 6 Touch or REAPER and MUX.

if have attached 2 midi files to my email to mutools
bass.mid - MUX: Clean E-Bass and
lead.mid - MUX: Big Sunrise Pad

1) About the hanging notes, it's a Cubase Asio Guard problem.
Also other plugins suffer from it when their AG is enabled.
Even Steinberg's own Prologue doesn't play well with AG enabled.
(@Steinberg: If you need details, email me)

Solution: Disable Asio Guard.
At least for MUX and MUX (Vst Synth). You can do so in the VST Plug-in Information window, right-most column.

2) About the UI slow downs when using many MUX Vsts: Try this update:
http://www.mutools.com/mux/test
Put the 4 files in the zip in your current MUX Vst 5.4.1 folder thus overwriting the 2 DLL and the 2 ID files. If you did not yet had installed MUX Vst 5.4.1, pls do so first!

Pls let me know if it makes a difference.

The UI slow down problem is solved now. Thanks, that was quick :)
Unfortunately the hanging note problem is still present although it seems I've got less occurrences since this last upgrade or maybe after I disabled Cubase Asio Guard...!? I'll test it more

When ASIO Guard is enabled for MUX Vst, the hanging note problem should be replaced by silent notes, which is the same behaviour as many other VSTs (including Steinberg's own Prologue) are showing when ASIO Guard is enabled.
