but yes Zeeber, you've a point about prior knowledge; they really should put together a 'beginners guide' (maybe even only online) so people could get to grips with all the concepts/pit-falls of digital audio.

and for the record, I grappled with Cakewalk Homestudio 2002 (sonar 1 technology) and *never* got it working, even on an optimised audio only system... so I gave Tracktion shot and it worked perfectly from the off.
