Hi,
I was using MVintageRotary v8 last night when it crashed cubase on me. But the bigger problem was when i restarted the computer and cubase then loaded the project i was working on.
For some reason i didn't get an option to open a newer version of the saved file which cubase always does after a crash so i lost a hour of work but then after loading the project i get this crazy loud buzz which apart from scaring the crap out of me nearly blew my ears and speakers. The channel it was in was maxed in the red as was the main output, just from opening the file.
I narrowed it down to MVintageRotary, dont know how or why it being an effect but its loud.

I tried this again this today and i got the same buzz without the scare and sore ears but after turning off Mvintagerotary while writing this i turned it back on and the sound was gone but there was no sound from the project at all. Restarted cubase now no buzz but no sound or even meters moving from anything. midi playing synths or audio files noting. I only restarted cubase not computer.
Will wait to hear back from you before trying a few more things.
Using v8, win 7 cubase artist 7.5 Hope you can help
Daire

ok i restarted the computer and no buzz sound when loaded file and project is playing fine except there is a distortion from MVintageRotary. I have it on 4 channels and all 4 are distorting. the last thing i used on MVintageRotary before crash was AGC. I have kept the save file if you need me to try anything, have to get back to work on project.

Ok, so, i'm a little lost here - before it did some scary buzz sound and now it started distorting? Can you repeat now? If so, which it does? What does it mean you use it on 4 channels? You mean 4 channel surround? It crashed at the moment you enabled agc? Would it be possible to create a project, wherevyou'd remove all tracks except for the problematic one and send it to me? (assuming it would still cause problems) Also could you check with 7.13?

Right I have the save file ready so I'll pm that to you.

The buzz sound only happend twice, the first 2 times I loaded the save file in cubase, now i just get distortion when playing back track.

Also if you mute "sub output 11" you can hear noise from that channel which only goes away when turn off MVintageRotary on that channel.

The channels I have it on are seaprate channels 3 audio 2 instruments (sry 5 channels not 4).

ACG to be honest I dont know what it is for so I pressed set a coulple of times on the different MVintageRotary so no wasn't the first time I pressed it.

I use Maudio soundcard and when the crash happened it also crashed my soundcard and cubase set the generic low latency asio driver as default. I didn't spot this for a while.
The distortion only occurs when this asio driver is in use. So after changing back to Maudio asio driver the problems where gone.

Not sure where the buzz came from or went to.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the PM, however I checked it and it doesn't seem to do anything wrong here. The project is empty and is silent. Are you saying that when you open it, it starts producing some noise? Tried in Cubase 7.5 32-bit, can check on a different one, but I don't suppose there would be a difference.
I suppose the best way would be to email me and I'll send you a debug version, just to try. Also did you try 7.13?

Btw. when you say channels, you actually mean tracks. Channels is confusing as it means channels in a track (e.g. stereo and mono).

For the record, MAudio soundcards + Cubase combination suck... sorry to say, I had my own for years, it works fine, but whenever Cubase crashes (which on a development machine does all the time :D ), it often just stops working until one does a proper restart... Switched to Roland now and all is fine ;). Actually I'm not 100% sure it is MAudio (but MAudio drivers were always nonreliable...), but it may also be firewire. I'm personally on USB now, cheaper, faster, more supported and more reliable...

Hi, sorry for delay in replying,

yea things seem to point to the soundcard + driver, it seems to crash alot alright. There was a high cpu load and track was playing too. I use m-audio audiophile 192 and have had to restart computer too many times over the years because it crases so often. On the lookout for a new soundcard which will hopefully make things a bit better.
Anyways I got it all back working by saving presets while disabled and a few other things, everything is working fine now.

Yea I ment tracks.

Cheers Daire

lovin the new update btw
