Dual filter sounds in Diva

Just a little trick that I picked up on a tutorial for FXpansion's Strobe synth, that works in any synth that has global unison and the ability to use the voice number as a modulator.
Basically, set the unison voices to 2 and remove layer detuning if you like. Now you have two identical voices that you can make distinct by modulating parameters with "StackIndex". It's a bipolar modulation which means it'll push both instances away from the value set by the knob.
You can use it to have different cutoff and resonance amounts in each part, to have two different waveshapes in oscillators that let you modulate that, and the kicker - using the Uhbie filter you can use it to modulate the filter type, giving dual filter combos like lowpass in one and highpass in the other.
Once you've done that you can experiment with adding more voices, which will take on values inbetween the two extremes specified by StackIndex.

Sendy,
Do you have any mp3's or patches of that you wish to show off?

Not sure where you're pointing with "remove layer detuning" but setting the osc phase reset trigger did the trick I expected. (+setting voice drift and detune to 0)
Thanks for reminding, had fun with similar trick since Tyrell N6 but forgotten how much fun it is.
This might be a quite powerful, untapped synth method... especially once filter FM and modifiers are implied.
Maybe we're one step away in making Diva really sing!

Any patches for mere mortals like me?

init patch:
-trimmers tab, set voice drift and detune to 0 .... phase reset to "osc reset"
-main tab: stack 2 voices for starters
-filter module, select a mod slot to switch to "stack index" as a modulator and give it an amount.
-bring filter resonance up to better notice the effect.

yeah, and with negative amounts of the VMM affecting resonance, we'll keep the formant in check.
The higher the setting (i.e. the higher the filter offset), the lower the resonance.
unfortunately, so far the Uhbie filer doesn't sound best for this... need to play some more.
instead of bandpass, we can alternatively use a narrow pulse with LP.
KB traking the pulse width should also help..
Can't wait for Zebra3!

Don't use the Uhbie filter for this... use the multimode one (I think only bandpass will do, BTW, not lowpass).3ee wrote: so far the Uhbie filer doesn't sound best for this... need to play some more.

Yeah, I always tried with the BP of the Multimode... but CPU savings got me experimenting and found out that you can get a sort of BP filter effect with narrow pulse feeding into an LP.

maybe two LP/HP agnostic slots instead of a dedicated HP and dedicated LP and a serial/parallel switch could be a V2 feature? Dedicated mixer would allow feedback + a HP filter and allow for better control over how hard you're driving the filters too
