Does anyone know how to copy mod wheel data from one clip to another, if it is at all possible?

cheers,
frank

If it is actually clip data ( the type where each note has it's own data bar) then you might try a plugin called cc rider by a forum member named ModuLR. It changes clip data into track automation. Track automation can be copy/pasted.

I can't find a site for ModulR - can't remember where his stuff is. I see that senderella is at tracktionfaction but I don't see this.

I couldn't find it either, that's why I didn't post a link.
Maybe ModuLR will show up.

sounds interesting; I hope he does show up!

Actually what I really want is a plug to convert VST automation to midi CC, as Tracktions current CC editing can really suck. I think mod mentioned thinking this over and deciding it couldn't be done.

all the plugs can be found at...

http://www.subminimal.org/plugins

with cc rider, you could record the cc data into an automation curve.. then copy the automation curve, and have it convert it back to cc's..

basically, it lets you use tracktion's automation features instead of it's cc editing facilities. just place it before the plug you want to send cc's.

hope that helps! I swear one day, I'll get my stupid site together, and the plugin place won't be such a mystery...

How come more hasn't been made of this? If it works properly then it'll be awesome.

Just tried it. Wow! Perfect. Completely sorts the problem I was having.

Okay, well,

Perhaps I am just a bit simple (or only inexperienced) but could somebody explain a bit more in detail which steps to follow?

*I put cc rider in a track where I
*have some mod wheel to copy,
*drag the automation doodah to cc rider
*and select cc-1.

*In ccrider I have selected record mode: on,
*and in tracktion automation mode enabled.

I start and nothing much seems to happen. Probably missed out on something essential....?

(1) Place CC-Rider on the track you wish to convert...
(2) Press the record autiomation button in the transport (to the left of the play button).
(3) Press Play button. It will start recording and thus converting the CC data into a VST automation curve.
(4) Press stop when you are finished.
(5) Grab the little automation "A" on the track and drag it to CC-Rider.
(6) Highlighted in green will be the CC # of the parameter than has been recorded... select it.

You will then see your automation curve.

You can also have the param selected before hand. The bar will jump as it records, but once you hit stop, you'll see a nice curve which duplicates the cc data.

hope that helps...

Hey modulR, thanks for helping!

But nope, it doesn't really work. When I do it manually from cc rider, everything gets recorded.

But it simply doesn't record the mod wheel data from the clip. The automation button does not even start to blink. Any other ideas?

Post

and cc-rider is the first plugin on the track... correct? :?:

yes, the first plug.

I did some more experimenting; draw some foot pedal data in, breath control. Nothing! Doesn't record anything. Only when I change the sliders in ccrider, the automation button starts blinking.

ModuLR,

forgot to mention that everything works fine! Had the record mode off last time.

Thanks, really great stuff!!!!
