Midi editing note length upon entry?

First real issue I've run into demoing it so far:
It seems with the pointer tool you can only enter notes that are the length of the current grid division, and then edit their length afterwards. With the pen tool you can control the length as you add the note, but then you can't control length afterward. This is much more inconvenient for me than the Live way of doing things were you can enter a note of whatever length you wish and also edit any note's length with the same main tool. Basically you can draw in or edit whatever you want without it being a two step process or having to constantly switch tools.
Is there a way to make it work like this?

Just find out that when you select the note and hold alt + arrowkeys you can make them longer or shorter.. not the best solution,.. but i know theyre listening and reading. fingers crossed!

We had a bit of a talk about this in the all in one Bitwig thread and it seems there's no way around it, so I guess I'm gonna declare this a feature request. If you could simply add double click + drag to determine the length of the note you are adding with the pointer tool that would be great. Since double click + drag with the pointer tool does nothing right now hopefully it's not an issue.
Then you can add notes of whatever length you want, edit note length and move notes without having to switch tools and without having any of those operations being too inconvenient. These actions are the bread and butter of creating midi ideas for me so having them all working together seamlessly is a must,

Why even double-click-then-drag? A single click to enter a note, and dragging it to adjust length is perfectly normal and FAST way to work.

Single click drag creates a selection with the pointer tool. Similar to ableton iirc. Single click to selection box, double click to add note. The only thing missing is the double click drag to enter note length. Single click and single click drag to enter note is the domain of the pencil tool.

Midi step recording is missing too... More often I prefer entering notes via my Push or midi keyboard rather than the mouse.Ogopogo wrote:The only thing missing is the double click drag to enter note length.

+1 vote for this
I personally find this takes twice as long, maybe I'm just not super accurate with my mouse, but having to align the cursor on note edges to drag them slows me down.EvilDragon wrote:Why even double-click-then-drag?
