Hello,
Started Bitwig (demo) for the first time ever, and I must say I like slight workflow variation compated to my current daw.
I wanted to know if it is possible to use pc keyboard for realtime midi input?
Thanks.

I noticed that if you take focus off of your midi track to change a setting on your VST instrument and play a note using the keyboard, the track gets no input and sound stops - so you have to go click back on the track to hear the sound again - this is very irritating of you just want to audition sounds as you make realtime changes to VST parameters....

Fantastic! Excellent option.
@fjorko YES, that is annoying. I can see no option for locking focus on a vst instrument for a track. So, when turning knobs on vst instrument interface, you can not audition notes until you click on instrument track...
I have a 61key midi keyboard, but it is not always attached... I never got to position in right after I moved...
I will try later for midi keyboard, but losing focus if pc keyboard is annoying when trying to just test new sounds or similar.

Yep, and i assume this will be true for midi controllers as well ( keyboards etc ).
Can anyone confirm ?

cant confirm here, with a midi controller (using akai mpk mini right now), the focus stays and i can tweak and play the VST at the same time...
by the way, if you use a pc keyboard in ableton live, this focus prob happens as well on some(not all) vsts...

K cool - havn't got my controller hooked up yet, so couldn't check.
I see the Novation Impulse 25 supported natively, will the 49 ( which I have ) work out the box as well ? Anyone know ?

I will try today using external midi keyboard while changing paramteres in VSTi gui. It is impossible to create new sounds in Sylenth, for example, if I have to change paramter, and then click in bitwig window and then try sound, instead of just pressing one key while changing parameters in vst instrument GUI...

I cannot test it @ the moment but I think there was an option like 'record arm follows track selection' which should do that if you turn it off.Fjorko wrote:I noticed that if you take focus off of your midi track to change a setting on your VST instrument and play a note using the keyboard, the track gets no input and sound stops - so you have to go click back on the track to hear the sound again - this is very irritating of you just want to audition sounds as you make realtime changes to VST parameters....
So when turned off this option you can manually record arm the track you want to play with your computer keyboard and this will not change when selecting other tracks,
