Using Tracktion with Soundflower (OSX)

I found this great little app on the cycling 74 website that lets you pipe audio all around OSX, but I'm having trouble getting it to work with Tracktion because I'm unable to select a different input and output on the settings screen. It would make sense (in Tracktion) if we had the ability to select one input (soundflower) and monitor through another (built in audio or card). As is, I choose soundflower and am able to get the audio flowing into tracktion, but am unable to monitor it. Any ideas? I am trying to take live stuff out of MaxMSP and patch it into Tracktion for multitrack recording.

I'm having the exact same problem. This would really be handy for collaborating between Tracktion and stuff like max and reaktor in stand alone mode. Wouls solve half of my absynth problem as well.

I tried making Soundflower the default sound app within OSX, but still, I wasn't able to get any sound monitoring in Tracktion. Soundflower is a great little utility, it's very much ashame that Tracktion lacks the basic functionality to play with it. A friend was recently readying sound pieces for a museum instalation... on one of them he needed a specific tone, so he was using some scientific software on OSX. He wasn't sure how to record it, but within 10 minutes we were able to pipe it over into Garageband using Soundflower and even add a few effects live. Just for this utitlity alone I am considering picking up a copy of Garageband now... maybe as a stepping stone towards Logic. I love Tracktion, but it really needs to come together soon. Tracktion is by far my favorite to use for basic recording and editing, I hope they take it a little further (synch with video maybe?).

FIX THIS BUG.

Ok, that was lame. I threatened to leave Tracktion if she did't change. I even named names (logic, garageband). This most likely won't happen, becausse the strengths of Tracktion far outweigh the little bugs and quirks. I have made more (and much better music) using tracktion then any other computer music app. I just would love to see this worked out, because wouldn't it be nice? I'm sorry baby, I'm not going anywhere. No more threats.

I guess the problem is that Tracktion isn't designed to work with several audio interfaces (virtual or real).I guess it isn't that easy to implement, seems more than just debugging... I don't know of anything besides max that supports simultaneous use of several audio cards. They're probably are some apps that do this, but it seem a bit of an extraoardinary feature. That's another reason to implement it though :P

I may be missing something guys, but I can (and have) used soundflower to route audio from Radial into Tracktion. From memory i had about 8 channels coming in to Tracktion with multiple input icons to the left..

I'm running 1.5.1.1.

I very well could have something set up wrong! How did you manage to monitor what was comming from Radial into Tracktion? Were you using Soundflower as the default in Tracktion or in the OSX AudioMIDI setup? It's good to know it can be done!

Inkling I haven't got the time right now to recreate it and it was a while ago (as i haven't been using Radial much as it's buggy and the developer is not particularly forthcoming with information - lovely concept 'tho), but from memory I enabled soundflower (16ch) in the Traction settings as the defaul t driver, I then routed radial's outputs to soundflower and hit record!

...actually shit...I've just checked it and I see the problem with monitoring...can't get it to happen...maybe i did it with Jack! You can definitely get sound outta Radial into Tracktion with Soundflower, but I can't seem to monitor either now!

Have you tried Jack?

I'll investigate further and get back when I have some time!
