I think it's always been $249. In the last months of 2012 and 2013, FXpansion ran sales where Geist, Synth Squad, and Tremor were each $99. We still have leftovers from the last one and that's why we can now sell it for $84.15.

With that said, maybe something new is coming, I really don't know. They haven't told us about anything like that.

Right but this is April... it is unusual to drop the sale price so much at this part of the year..

Maybe they are hoping people buy more addons to recoup the price difference.. Maybe it is on the way out.. Maybe they just wanted to provide a dirt cheap sale price because they felt like it... don't know either since FXPansion are keeping quiet..

They are all connected.

For all I know this software could be gone by tomorrow. But Musician's Friend having an extreme discount on it shouldn't necessarily be viewed as the end of it's lifespan.

Not too long ago it was a 'Special Edition' of Addictive Keys reduced to less than $30.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them discounted as they've done with Geist.

I'm sure I'm covering something that's already been posted, but for those that haven't purchased shipped software from Musician's Friend, it usually arrives as a DVD case with no disc and a card inside containing all the download information and a serial number.

EDIT:

Should add, not saying Geist won't have an installation disc. Other software I've bought from Musician's Friend only had download instructions.

I think this is just one supplier (with many names) dumping physical stock.

I wouldn't read too much into it without some other evidence (the Addictive Keys promo listed above is a good example).

I've had that experience as well, but on the Fxpansion site they note this is a boxed version only available from retailers, so I'd expect a physical product, not download instructions.

And onthe other comment about dumping stock: MF has a great history of offering special deals like this which in no way indicate a problem with the vendor or the product, just a way to attract attention. I got Effectrix that way for $29 and it is selling there and elsewhere today for $129.

And, yet another, as the deals from Musician's Friend keep on coming:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi ... re-plug-in

http://peavey.com/news/index.cfm/id/756

Peavey having announced version 4, and depending upon how it's marketed, this could be a nice entry toward an upgrade path.

With, or without a future upgrade, this is a nice and quite useful piece of software.

I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it.

And, since I'm full of information today, for clarity I contacted Peavey and they confirmed ReValver can be authorized to run on 2 computers [a desktop and notebook, or in my case, a main desktop and secondary desktop], one owner, of course, simultaneously.

Ahh that is interesting then.. I thought MF and GC parted ways years ago and was unaware of Music123 and Woodwind and Brasswind being part of them. So it really is just one place with a drastic sale..

Big ups to blue monk for posting about a great magazine offer in the "main" bargain thread:

Get the wonderfully nifty FilterBank3 effect/synth plug-in for the price of a magazine......

http://www.falkemedia-shop.de/musik/beat/beat-1280.html

The magazine costs €5.90 (I think you have to buy the hard copy to receive FilterBank3; I don't think you can d/l the DVD content), but that turned into €9.40 with shipping (to Denmark).

Considering FilterBank3 sells for €59 and is worth every penny of it, it's still a fantastic bargain.

You can check out the FilterBank3 here:

http://www.tone2.com/html/___filterbank3.html

It only took about 30 seconds with the demo for me to hop on falkemedia and buy the magazine; it's a really nice, versatile plug-in. It's one of the best filter sequence effects I've tried, and I've tried quite a few lately.

Amazingly, it's actually a decent synth as well!

Without speculating on Revalver 4; the upgrade to 3.5 appears to be $79.99 through Peavey direct.
Still a great deal.

They are physical copies. Most software is digital downloads these days to satisfy GAS. Boxed copies take up wharehouse space.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying.

Since this is a physical copy, it costs more money to produce this version over an electronically distributed version. So, if anything, by that thinking this should cost a little more than the download.

However, the 'digital download' (which is a strange term since all downloads are digital) actually costs significantly more. And even so.. the difference is a factor of 5. It doesn't cost 5 times the price of any distributed version simply based on it's method of distribution.

This is simply a sale with a highly discounted price as far as any of us here know.. even though it seems quite strange to be discounting so heavily.

I just bought Rumble and Fanfare from Amazon. Sample Logic had better authorize my product. Otherwise, I'd have to ask, just how did Amazon get a hold of 'unauthorized' product -- is it bootlegged? Maybe we should get the FBI involved.

Post

I too just bought Fanfare. I'll see if I can cancel order before it ships. YES, 3 MAJOR RETAILERS carrying an unauthorized product. (MF, GC & MUSIC123) That would be a big deal. Sounds like there are a lot of physical copies out there.
Let's keep the updates coming on this one please!
