Yeah that's true! Definitely enjoying the interaction on this forum now that the very angry people have mainly left and the bugs have started to disappear.billcarroll wrote:Awesome, I'm really glad it helped. So many people are helping here, it's almost the same feel as the open-source software community.
By the way here's another idea for a feature I always wanted in Ableton - sample/ms delays/advances for each row within FX Layers or Instrument Layers. Absolutely essential in my opinion for getting samples to sit perfectly with one another when you're layering drums or whatever. Obviously this wouldn't come until they've implemented track delays/advances, but hopefully it wouldn't be hard to extend the technology. In my opinion track delays are one of the most important features still lacking in Bitwig - phase relationships can make or break a mix.
I do realise how daunting the prospect of fitting more things on the GUI must be though

My list for Bitwig is:
Midi routing between tracks.
Sidechaining(I know you can use the envelope but some VSTs are more convenient when you use their input).
REX support.
Better piano roll.
Freeze track(essential imo).
Disable VSTs(totally turn off VSTs in a chain).
VST 3 support(they have better CPU usage, better sidechaining support).
Full PDC(no 700ms limit).
Offline processing of samples, as per Cubase, also with history. This is an awesome feature.
Custom fades and crossfades.
Group tracks and folder tracks.
VST multi out.
VST tagging, better organisation of VST list.
Overall I think Bitwig is an awesome piece of software. It feels fresh and new, and is great fun to use. I'm enjoying learning it and seeing the rapid progress in the first few patches. Hopefully the current shortcomings aren't too hard to fix/add, as it'll then be the perfect DAW. Which is something I've been searching for for years.

As a Linux-User, this is my main concern right now.KGZM wrote:#1. Full JACK support(including both MIDI and JACK transport) and the ability to open audio and midi ports on Bitwig and bypass port discovery.

My short request regarding to note names.
When you edit in pianoroll with drummachine and place notes, that you see for example SNARE in the note instead of C1
Flstudio and ableton works that way. (Think its very helpfull)
And that you see the notenames NOT only in fold mode...

-Track Delay - Like in ableton
-Grouped Tracks - maybe a folder for track option as well but group is a must.
-Better icons on the mixer levers.
-Better select all volume, pan etc options..
- Being able to to split highlighted selected clips where the song cursor mark is, like cont&E or some type of command.
- I mean the CPU usage & screen freezing has to be better. Really think this is the most important along with being able to load many audio files and plugs with stability like Logic.
- options for audio use and not just core audio in the preferences
- not having issue with midi controllers or audio devices
.
Down the road....
-A nice really solid EQ with spectrum , maybe even a SSl EQ strip kind of thing.
-Custom project views , maybe even giving use the option where to put mixer, arrangement, inspector etc.
- more options in the preferences
-I always though it be great if a DAW had a small feature pop up to show midi messages like auto map, when you turn a cutoff for something
-
Going all out with Nektar or whoever...... making something that will control and show all mappings on the controller screen be default. They seem to be heading this way with nektar, now if they can only do what they did with their plugins on it with third party ones, myself and others would be thrilled like Michael Jackson in the 80's

Make the notes big enough vertically (zooming by click and drag on the left of the keyboard ) and you'll see the note names.codec17 wrote:My short request regarding to note names.

I use four desktop-screens in linux, on one monitor.
It would be great to be able to drag the
main panels like arrange, mix, edit, device chain etc
to extra desktops, and have their focus restored
when their desktop was brought into view.
(plan on reading the manual soon, in case this
is possible now)
Cheers

So up for templates now, obviously been mentioned a few times but I'm thinking about the possibilities now with multiple projects open. Would be so cool to be able to open a preset "resample FX" template in a new project with loads of effects already set up on a few tracks, mess around with some crazy stuff bouncing to lots of new tracks etc. (messy stuff that you'd prefer not to do in your main project), then drag the result straight back across into your main song.
