I did. Not to beat a dead horse (well, ok, maybe a little), it was definitely intimated that ST3 Free would be inevitable because "we've always done this before, and I don't see why we wouldn't do it now."
Shameful.
Shameful.

Here is a beautiful Cathedral Organ from SampleTank 3 - an amazing piece of craftsmanship (both the original organ and the sampling of it) that we sampled in a church in beautiful Modena, Italy:

IKM, you really could learn a lot from the Toontrack guys. Coming out with the news of EZDrummer 2 at Musikmesse and stating clearly it'll be available on May 6th.
it might be a much smaller project than ST3 but it took them helluva less time to code it and while I hate their use of GAME CHANGER!!! to promote it, they generally still come out as a bloody great company.
k
(plus making 64bit version of EZ quickly and lettin' us have it for free)

We provided 64-bit updates for our other products free of charge, we explained why that isn't the case here, and every company and product is different. Thanks for your assessment, though.

True and I'm not ditching any of the IK Plugins, but ST3 really took a long time to do...

3. The decision to not have a free version at release is because first SampleTank 3 new features and the entirely new sound set are closely connected (it will make more sense upon release and seeing the features and sounds working together in the new engine), plus there are a lot of new features which we have spent time and money to develop.
this makes absolutely no difference to users like myself who have no intention of buying a behemouth library just to use as a wrapper for a couple of libraries
clearly you understand that there are many in such a situation, and you are holding out to grab as many of those who will just say 'what the heck" and buy it anyway. everyone else gets just enough lip service and vagueness, in an almost "we aren't even sure whether there will be a free version yet" kinda way.
the last sentence about all the time and money to develop infers that you aren't really about to give freebies until you start making back on your investment, which would be normal for any business were it not for the fact that many of us who bought the products that helped you to become such a high profile company over the years now feel they are getting stiffed, and being held over a barrel to shell out more money just to use the same instruments they have already paid for

This is the same stuff that Ben told us was debated over and over again in the other threads, so you can reference our forum or those threads as I won't respond any more about this beyond repeating for the last time: The software you purchased (and by your statement have had years of use which should be more than a good recoup of investment in either real currency or musical output/satisfaction) does exactly what it states it would do, and it is stated it is 32-bit plus there is a free version and have been demo versions throughout for anybody to assess whether it will work on their system. Those not interested in SampleTank 3 have bit bridging available to them as an option. Again, it is all hashed out in the other locked threads that you can find and on our forum. We also have multiple methods of contact available to you if you'd like to speak to IK directly about your issues with any of this. Thank you.

would be fine were you not offering future-proofing and compatibility for those who are willing to pay you more money.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:This is the same stuff that Ben told us was debated over and over again in the other threads, so you can reference our forum or those threads as I won't respond any more about this beyond repeating for the last time: The software you purchased does exactly what it states it would do, and it is stated it is 32-bit plus there is a free version and have been demo versions throughout for anybody to assess whether it will work on their system. i have had about 7 years of good use out of miroslav, but have no desire to pay over the odds for something i don't need to just to continue using it. your reason for not recoding to 64-bit is understandable, but it is not applicable now as you have a working framework that offers compatibility
i get the impression from many threads i have seen you post in that you likely don't give a shit about my opinion on this so you'll understand that i won't be bothering to contact you directly about it
nothing in the ik thread i quoted from is a real reason for not offering a 'free' version, to be used as a wrapper, upon release, and as a sign of good faith for all those who have supported you before now. it is about your bottom line only. is sampletank 3 that unworrthy as a product that a free version will cut away at so much of your profit ??
anyway, sorry to derail your promotional drive (ooooh, look at those organs
thanks

Does it?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: your reason for not recoding to 64-bit is understandable, but it is not applicable now as you have a working framework that offers compatibility
This is the reason I'm selling their 64 bit software, it seems to be the only thing that is incompatible to my computer.
(And apparently only mine).
BTW, the 32 bit STank2-et al still works great.
Glad IK is including a demo at least.
Now where are those new ethnic instruments?

Today we have a screenshot of one of the beautifully-sampled pianos from SampleTank 3. Here is Grand Piano 1, a warm grand piano built in Hamburg, Germany with the Soundboard Resonance effect enabled on one of the five inserts and you can see it is quite a nice large sample and it is indeed quite detailed and gorgeous.
