For folks who have successfully completed the 2.01 upgrade to their Receptor 2s...
Care to make any comments about overall system stability and performance? RAM/CPU usage... worse/same/better?
Any unsupported plugins that used to work well that don't or vice versa?
Feature-wise it looks like an excellent upgrade, but I don't want to compromise on overall performance at this point.
Thanks so much for chiming in.

Really started working with the new OS on my Receptor 2+ this afternoon. There are some things I really like setting up patches in a more organized fashion. There are some things I still to figure out but the Live mode is really working well on things where a couple of plugins I use would reboot the mixer mode if not the entire system. I don't want to have to hook up a monitor so I hope I can figure out the program changes so I can switch patches remotely while in live play mode.

Keep on with the program change topic. I can figure out some workarounds for what I want to do but I have one significant question regarding midi channels in 2.01 and how they work compared to mixer mode. In mixer mode a midi channel can be set up to monitor program change commands so I can send prog. changes to the receptor and to other devices on different channels while my controller sends performance data to all of them on channel One. I can after some work yesterday reorganize my other devices to fit the receptor if necessary. Otherwise I like the new operating system.

Thanks Dan. I've seen another thread (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5&t=402572) where there was some concern about increased RAM usage per plugin.
I was hoping certain unsupported plugins work better (Pianoteq 4 Stage, Predator 1.6.4), but I may just have to dive in and hope for the best.

I don't know from the plugins that you mention. I am not a keyboard player so some of those I have not tried. I have found that the SWAM instrument sets I have from sample modeling have not been heavy on ram usage. Using an EWI as a controller my CPU load is automatically heavier because of the constant CC2 and CC11 breath and expression streams. I have barely reached half way with two Swam instantiations. Kontakt player on the other hand loads things up more both in Ram usage and CPU load. I get into the amber lights on the CPU meter with kontakt player 5 running.

It was an exciting day. My FCB1010 pedal program was able through midi learn to get the midi receive channel in rack mode from all to a single channel. This was pretty much my last hurdle to getting my system and some new plugins to work as close as they can to mixer mode snapshots. The only thing I would like is if tags could attach to bank numbers. I think a small monitor and a mouse could be as easy a solution for that so I can be sure of which tag is in live mode.

I followed the instructions and my installation went smoothly. Overall, I think it is offers a vast improvement and the ability to switch back to the old-style mixer mode in a pinch really sealed the deal for me. I am so, so happy Muse decided to offer this upgrade, it is well worth the price. My only minor gripe was that now I have to go back through all of my custom presets and re-organize them, add tags, one-by-one etc. and Im still in the learning curve stage. But im confident that once im done this is going to be the ultimate live VST machine! No Macbook required

Well, i don't know if this qualifies since you asked for those who 'successfully' updated. Did the update jan 16. No problem. Then upgraded from pianoteq 3 to 4 ( since i had a session for acoustic piano the following week). All good. Messed with some of the included piano sounds, made a tag for 'fave acoustic pianos' and set it into 'live' mode. Works just as advertised. Did my session the next week (ironically the producer chose a piano he had in his box) and went home. With the money i got, i bought a hard drive for backup, turned the receptor on and was stuck in a loop of 'scanning presets'. 2 help desk requests later and my machine still won't boot. Further irony: i only did the update so that i could back up my hard drive. (Everyone knows that hard drives all wear out & fail don't they!) (i must say that before this the help desk had been very, well, helpful, always getting back to me next day.)
General observations re v2: seems odd that to enter 'live' mode you need a monitor and pointing device (at least as far as i can tell) and 2 effects only doesn't cut it. (insert effects should at least be selectable per plugin). Tags are good: especially since they transcend specific plugins.
Of course, none of this will matter if my unit never boots again!
any suggestions?

ok, that was a hardware problem: poor connection to audio board. Worked a few weeks then wouldn't boot again: poor connection to ram sticks. I guess every few years disassemble & reassemble. I'll make a list of v2 impressions & post.
