A graphics performance observation on Logic Pro X and Multiband Melda Plugins

I picked up the the creative bundle recently and have been spending time familiarizing myself with the plugins as well as trying to understand their limitations with respect to performance in Logic Pro X. I noticed something rather odd today while experimenting...
If I open up any multiband plugin and use a preset that modulates the band sizes/locations, there is a fair bit of graphical slowdown on the animations of the bands.. until I start moving my mouse within the bands. During mouse movements (but only within the band area), the animations for the band modulation are smooth as silk. Pretty strange! What would cause that..?

This is most likely that your computer is kind of on an performance limit (don't get me wrong, but Mac OS X has just a horrible multithreading engine, you probably noticed the typical slow GUI response when something is working in background) - and this is most likely the same thing - when modulating bands, lots of it needs to be done on background (depending on modulator protection, check Settings/Settings). When the processing thread seems to be overoccupied, system gives less time to the GUI, so the graphics slows down.

Interesting. I tried all 5 options for modulator protection but experienced the same behavior with each of them.
On a side note.. I did notice the same behavior in (32-bit) Live using a VST .. so it does seem to be OS-related.

Btw could you record a screen video so that I could see what exactly are we dealing with?

Aaaah, ok, I think it is pretty normal. When you move your mouse, the system tries to refresh it on every move, so a lot... But if you leave it, it uses some predefined refresh rate to save CPU. I'll check, just in case, but from what's on the video it is not a problem.
