I demo'd these plugins at the very end of the v7.x series and was so impressed that I now have the total bundle as of v8.0

I think it's fair to say I've tried most of the top name plugins but am gradually replacing them with Melda plugins.

I'm particularly enjoying not emulating some piece of ancient hardware but rather sculpting the sound till it fits my sonic imagination. Rather than trying to capture a sound colour from yesteryear, I just concentrate on the hear and now (pun intended).

So congratulations. I'm looking forward to a long and productive relationship with MeldaProduction.

All the best,
regards,

Mike V.

Out of curiosity .. what host and OS do you use with your Melda plugins?

I have the MCreative Bundle and I can tell you Melda is my go-to set whenever I need an effect. I don't think I've done a track in six months that didn't have at least one Melda plugin in it!

By the way, I love the new UI! OMG so easy to use and clear, even for my tired old eyes. :tu:

And yep.. my VST folder is much cleaner now I dumped some Other Plugins for Melda ones! :hihi:

True story... Since a year or two I have some sort of clean-up mindset. Before I had hundreds of different plugins, paid and freeware (a lot of the latter being discontinued, or companys charging again just for a 64bit version). So my decision was to find a well arranged set of plugins that I would really use.

I must say Melda Plugins have become the heart of this set. Melda and the FabFilter Bundle, actually.

There are only a few Melda Plugins I dont like and where my goto plugins come from another studio, but most are just doing the job great!

Still they seem to be a bit underestimated compared to old brands like Waves, Sonnox, UAD and so on...
Yet quality and feature wise, I can see no advantages in those plugins.
I also did use many of those plugins, and there are only a few I still do miss, since switching to my new cleaned-up set.

Cheers,
Codex

I'm jealous, mudgel. If I could afford it I'd have the whole set, too. A great alternative to Waves, with their arcane and draconian copy protection and the WUP and version incompatibilities and planned obsolescence. Melda stuff has even been replacing some of my precious FabFilter plugins, something I didn't see coming.

Same here... although I like the Pro-Q alot, for some reasons I use the MDynamicEQ more and more often. The Pro-Q is still my goto EQ when I need more than 6 bands though or if I want to do quick M/S eqing (the workflow is a bit faster, than inserting two MDynamicEQ instances into a channel).

Post

Are any of you Mac users? If so, do you experience any performance issues with Melda plugins on your larger projects?

Post

Thank you guys!

Btw Codex there is per-band M/S in MDynamicEq (available from band settings, but you need to set the plugin into M/S mode).

Naenyn: What kind of performance problems? Also obviously the larger the project, the more CPU it consumes.

Ah I did not notice that, so one less point for FabFilter! ;-)

To be fair, Pro-Q lets you mix 'n match M/S and stereo filters, while an instance of MDynamicEQ runs in one mode or the other. However, it's no big deal to place two instances of MDynamicEQ in series to achieve the same end with even greater finesse.

Pro-Q is still the champ for CPU efficiency, too. I have a very modest system but I can throw it on every track if I want to. With the exception of Pro-MB, FabFilter effects (and synths) are extraordinarily efficient.

The biggest surprise for me was that MDynamicEQ is not only a suitable alternative to Pro-Q, it also does almost everything Pro-MB does. That's two FabFilter staples that can be replaced by one (less-expensive) Melda plugin.

Post

bbaggins that's not true - you can set it to M/S mode and then set M or S for each bands! ;) Check the band settings.

And MDynamicEq can do way more than Pro-MB! Though it is possible that Pro-MB does something MDynamicEq cannot, that I don't know really.

I mostly use SONAR X3e Producer but I also have PTHD 9.06, Studio One V2.6 and a multitude of VSTis.
In the Studio I use an i7 3930k CPU with 32 GiG ram running win 8.1 update 1.x64
All good all stable.
Live I use a Presonus Studiolive 2442 with a win 7 x64 Laptop and iPad for remote.

Same here. As far as creative effects are concerned, I have come to using about 100% Melda (despite I have a lot of other stuff). E.g. with the MEqualizer/MFilter I am a lot faster to setup what I want than with Q10.
My mastering section also now consists of mostly Melda plugs.

Waves got more and more replaced by Melda for me, though I still like the Waves compressors more.

And I use bass enhancers from Plug&Mix and Waves, Melda has nothing the like yet I think.
