Hello folks,

I recently got a Quneo, and it's cool as heck, Mr Heckman :!: ... but I have some MIDI questions related to my favorite synth (Zeebs).

If I create a new Quneo mapping (using MIDILearn) for Zebra using will it forget the previous mapping, overwrite the MIDI settings it has learned? Or does zebra save these in some sort of preset?

If Zebra does not save the MIDI mappings can I then use an existing (thorough) table of CC# notes and relevant channels they respond to, including pitch bend and so on? It would be great if these were available for Ace as well. (couldn't find anything extensive in the manual :cry:)

Quneo can map up a storm if needed, without MIDI learn, I just need the appropriate numbers and notes to roll my own presets :lol:

Does such a thing exist... or am I out of luck?

I've thought about a QuNeo myself, especially for the touchpad rotaries. :)

MIDI in u-he plugins recently had a revamp if I recall:

I'm not sure if that's made it back into Zebra with the latest releases or not. It's definitely worth a try if you're up to the challenge though.

The previous Zebra MIDI implementaion was very simple. It's global (not per-patch) and ignored midi channels (modwheel on channel 1 is the same as modwheel on channel 2). The only hard-coded MIDI CC's are 0 (program change), 1 (Modwheel), 2(Breath), 11(Expression), and 123 (all notes off -- aka panic). Everything else is fair game for midi-learn. There's a lot of flexibility you can have with just this though.

Yes, I guess when the global MIDI set up is overwritten it just conforms to the new controller... I have a small Alesis QX25 keyboard I would like to swap with it on occasion. Oh well.

Zebra is thoroughly mapped to The QX25 Keyboard now and I wanted to use the Quneo for remote cafe sessions... as it is THE road warrior (beer proof, ultra-light and ipad sized) as well as more specific duty as an Ableton controller.

The Quneo was VERY dense at first, as everyone says and feels awkward... until you start setting it up for YOU. I changed the input threshold for the pads and INSTANLY it became more cooperative.

If I can make custom patch for remote Zeeb work, while keeping the Ableton and Machine happy my job will be done--I mean I still have Maschine and QX25, but getting portable micro-expressive control along with "joining the fleet" when needed... it would be epic!

The Quneo seems a CAN DO device... with some limits on expectation vs reality.

While it is a lousy "keyboard" and a so-so drum pad (Maschine "feels" better) it is a MONSTER of tricks and control access. It comes with OPEN PYTHON files for MAXIMUM GEEKAGE, it can make a "kind" of multi-pad bank change, the 8 sliders surely could map to X/Y (or even on the pads!)... therefore, it MUST work with Zebra if I am smart enough to figure it out...

... adding a bump to Tom's original post. I'm a Quneo user too, and am just now starting to play with controlling Diva and Zebra parameters with it. So I'd love to see answers to his very same questions. What is the latest about MIDI mapping in the latest Zeeb and Diva?

For those curious about Quneo, it does take some fiddling, but is worth the effort. The latest software version (came out May 2013, I think) fixed some serious problems and added more flexibility. It's matured to the point of being a real asset in my permanent setup. I'm working right now to map Diva program changes to a whole bank of pads. And I just figured out how to get it to flash the last patch I selected, as well as flash different colors for each of my two keyboards.

Hello. This is my first post in the U-He world. I am loving Zebra (had to get the HZ upgrade too!)

I am trying to make this following quote from the Zebra manual work, but with no luck:

"MIDI remote control is channel sensitive: This means that you can map up to 16 channels of any CC except ModWheel, BankSelect, Hold or AllNotesOff – which adds up to more than 1,900 mappable controllers!"

I assigned my controllers on my keystation pro, and set up different snapshots on different midi channels. Doesn't matter which channel I'm on, the cc # is all that matters. Am i doing something wrong?

Hmmm, not sure.

I think some hosts might merge all channels into one.

You could also send me your com.u-he.Zebra2.midiassign.txt for an inspection, or you could post it here if it isn't too long. We could then try some things to suss it out.

Now that we're getting near Bazille's release and the end of our code cleansing action (see Latest Builds thread), we'll put higher priority on a global preferences window for our stuff. That window will show all MIDI assigments among other things, and it'll let you manually edit them. Unfortunately, while we had this planned for years, there's always been something else that needed to be done more urgently - but not for much longer, I hope.

Granted, it might look similar on the inside.
