This is by far the most active synth forum of any synth manufacturer/synth plug-in developer that I am aware of (kudos to u-he for that). That is why I will ask the first question:
I have noticed that with some of u-he's competitors' new demo products, it is becoming more common that you need something newer than the Mac OSX 10.6.8 that I currently use (which I am not thrilled about). It seemed that there was a thread or two a few months ago (in this forum) talking about how many bugs were in the newer versions of OSX. Is this still true? Or has Apple improved upon this at all? I realize I can't stick with OSX 10.6.8 forever, but I don't want to deal with a bunch bug issues if I can avoid them.
New question, different topic: I'm using Cubase LE4. With Diva, there is the Output knob that controls general/overall volume of Diva. For a while I was getting confused with Cubase automated track volume, and the (different) automated Output, which I think Cubase calls "Diva - Vol", is this correct? I also noticed a Vol1, Vol2, and Vol3 (Cubase calls it this) as things you can automate on Diva. What is the Vol1, Vol2, and Vol3? I checked the instruction manual (I did a search).

The latest verison of XCode by default only compiles for OSX 10.8 and up. I can imagine if a developer isn't a Mac guy, he might not know or be prepared to do so.
Also, one needs to have an older version of XCode around. Which newer developers might not have.

If you try the Latest Builds, somewhere on the way we made parameter names more descriptive. I'm currently not sure at which state this is (I try to stay home on Saturdays, i.e. not go into the office)

Thank you for the speedy reply! And thank you for not forcing me to update to a newer OSX as of yet! I could not find any "Output" earlier in Cubase LE4 as an automated parameter for Diva. I'll try looking for a "Main control circuit" or "mncc:out" soon.

I stuck to 10.6.8 for a long time too... but then some software I depend on forced me to upgrade. I'm on 10.9.3 now and it is fine. Seems solid and reliable.

Your memory was pretty close to being completely correct in my particular case. On a test song (I should have tried this earlier, but I did not anticipate the answer to my question) I opened a new track of Diva, and recorded some notes. Then I automated the Diva Output knob to make various changes just for the test. Cubase LE4 called this "Diva - CcOp". Until now, it did not occur to me that the "Op" stands for Output. Since I have the El Cheapo Cubase LE4, I only have 8 tracks for synth/drum plug-ins, so I did not have luxury of just opening another track and trying something out without bouncing audio and deleting a track for an experiment. Thank you.
