Poll: Should the active preset name be displayed in Melda plugins GUI?

Most users build their own characteristic presets and use them, so it might be useful to have the name displayed so you know which preset is currently in use. Adding an asterisk once it is changed is also a common and useful feature.
Depending on th implementation this means the GUI could need a little bit more space. A collasible bar would leave it to the user whether he needs to save space or see the name more.

Sorry bud but don't think a poll is right, unless it was created by Vojtech, he has done a great job with these plugin's, listened to a lot of suggestions regarding the plugin's and made changes if they are possible, to enhance the user experience.
Creating a poll only undermines him and the work he is doing and if everyone was to start a poll on what they wanted to see done we would lose the direction and creativity Vojtech.
I believe he has the best of intentions for these plugin and would rather leave the decision up to him he's a smart guy and made these plugin's without poll's from us.

Sorry, you understood the whole thing wrong. The poll is to see whether the majority of people would like to have that feature or not, simple as that. The poll is not to put pressure on Vojtech, the poll is to see what people would like more.
If everybody would come with bogus feature requests and start a poll, nobody would agree, and the poll would reveal that. If someone asks for a very useful feature, people might agree, and a poll would show that in the same manner. So I don't know where your problem with a poll is.
And I believe users input is very valuable for Vojtech, and it is very good how he responds to it. We should keep up this form of dialog, both parties profit from that a lot. As a one man show he gains a lot of other viewpoints, that he would not have alone, and on the other hand as a one man show he can react much faster as someone in a big team where things have to be aligned etc.
So, I see a lot of positive aspects. Hope you can see that as well

No, I understand, you wanted a feature implemented and suggested it to Vojtech he said he wasn't sure if it could be done with GUI restrictions, you replied with your suggestions, so did I and a few others. Without hearing a response from Vojtech you started a poll.
Many features of these plugin's have been discussed and implemented or not without the use of a poll and I'd say the majority of people who use these plugins do not visit these forums regularly, so all polls are flawed to start with.
I don't agree with your methods to try get features implemented. Simple discussion of a solution is a lot more constructive than a poll.

No you really don't understand, I am sorry! The poll is not(!) a "method to get a feature". It is to see whether the majority of people likes or dislikes my suggestion. Man, it is not that difficult to understand!

It shows in the original post that most people liked your suggestion, you don't need a poll to show that.

I'm living in a democracy, so I participated and voted for the display of preset names...

Voted yes - don't know why it doesn't do this already

My point is that while these suggestion are good I would rather leave the implementation of these changes to Vojtech, I'm sure on his to-do list he has new plugin's and sounddesign idea's.
I would rather see these been pushed through rather than a slight GUI change.
I'm sure there are few more things people would want implemented over a visible preset name (really excited about MMusicComposer and MLawnmower
) and I thought the original post showed the people were in agreement the visible preset names and thought a poll would only put pressure to push it further up the to-do list and push something better down the list.
I'm not saying this was the intension of the poll but this is an effect it could have and I would rather see new idea's and plugin's than a slight Gui change.

dark-i, I dont see any real need for you to post your opinion over and over again; if you have an issue with polls, you should probably run a poll as to whether the majority of customers agree that running a poll is acceptable.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

I don't see any real need for you to post on this either, but you have that right and you posted, good for you.

SO FINALLY RESPOSE FROM MELDAPRODUCTION
Ok, guys, first I'd like to thank dark-i for his help here. I personally also think that this is a little unnecessary and useless, I already offered a solution - a collapsible panel with preset name, despite I think it is useless. I'm starting to feel, that I kind of opened a pandora's box by granting almost every feature anyone suggested, so that MeldaProduction is now the company to go when something wants something and expects it to be automatically granted
.
Anyway I'll add the collapsible panel to to-do list, we'll see. If you have a smarter solution (which I didn't see on the previous topic), bring it up.
Note that the plugins adjust their sizes automatically and all of the content must fit & preset names aren't limited in length & every plugin is different - that makes things quite more complicated than you seem to understand.
For the record, this poll is completely useless - you created a poll, where people click if they want this feature, but ignore if they don't care or don't want. So the results are quite useless. Well, my girlfriend is a statistician, she would explain it better
One more thing - there seems to be a tendency to use presets are miraculous cures, but from my experience presets are only some basic settings, which you will almost always need to modify for the particular case. And ears should be the judge, not some name. Anyway apparently everyone works different way, so hopefully we will be able to make this good for everyone

Good to know that its on the to do list.MeldaProduction wrote: Note that the plugins adjust their sizes automatically and all of the content must fit & preset names aren't limited in length & every plugin is different - that makes things quite more complicated than you seem to understand.
BTW one would of course truncate the names in the display. Best is intelligent truncation that always displays a few characters of the beginning and end of the string and cuts exceeding length from the middle. So that "MyPreset1" stays "MyPreset1" and "MySuperGorgeousMegaProductionPreset2b" will be "MySup..set2b".

You might also want to thank meMeldaProduction wrote: Ok, guys, first I'd like to thank dark-i for his help here.
Not for creating completely useless polls, but for asking for features that (though completely useless) quite some of your users might value, and push your reputation and sales even higher
