3rd party Kontakt 5 libraries are uninstallable on Receptor?

After installing my NI Komplete 9 upgrade from Komplete 8 onto my Receptor 2 PRO, I was dismayed to find out that it is currently impossible to install 3rd party libraries that are exclusive to the Kontakt 5 format.

I've had very nice, in depth conversations with both Muse Support and a third party developer in regards to this matter. This is something that needs to be resolved from Muse's end, and I was told that they are aware of this issue and looking for a fix, but this apparently has been a known issue for some time now.

Since I saw no mention of this anywhere else, I figure I'd start a dialog here for the benefit of others, and maybe get the ball rolling on this fix.

The issue has to do with Kontakt 5 libraries that need to be registered with a serial number need to be installed in standalone mode, which of course is not possible on the Receptor itself. There are compatibility issues regarding 32 vs 64 bit, .nicnt files, and other things over my head.

As a user of Kontakt 3 and 4 who has successfully installed third party libraries on my Receptor for over three years, this came as a shock. I wouldn't have learned this until trying it for the first time, and I'm out the money for the NI upgrade and the third party library, as I was content with Komplete 8 save for these great sounding Kontakt 5 libraries out of my reach.

Hopefully Muse can give some input into this matter and explain it to you better than I can.

I alluded to it here:

AFAIK NI's content doesn't work either, as Alicia's Keys is still not installable as an add-on library. (Perhaps it does if it's installed as part of Komplete 9 Ultimate?)

This KB article: http://www.plugorama.com/kb.php?id=438 certainly needs some updating.

So, to me, it's just another case of using Receptor outside the walled garden of plugorama, and while that's not a huge problem for me right now, it would be great to have a solution. Certainly the more I can install on Receptor OS the more valuable it becomes, and the more likely I am to upgrade to bigger and better versions!

I was able to install the NI Kontakt add-ons with the K9 Ultimate installation. I guess it was worth it to go with Ultimate, but I have a feeling that voucher NI sent me will be useless.

Is this Kontakt 5 library installation issue exclusive to Receptor 2, or is this happening on VIP, Trio, and Quattro?

Post

I have only had an issue with one library on the Quattro I purchased in December 2013, which was a very inexplicable situation with the Sonic Couture Pan Drums library (I have several other Sonic Couture libraries that added and authorized without issue). I was able to add all the libraries within Kontakt 5. I had been using a Pro Max 2 and I am very happy with the upgrade to the Quattro.

Unfortunately this is a problem for libraries that are issued in the ncint format. You can install them fine on any of the new models, because the 64-bit version of Kontakt will let us use the Add Library function. Unfortunately, the Kontakt Add library function does not work properly in 32-bit mode on Receptor 2, which is why the .ncint install method fails.

I believe that there is a work around, but I don't know what it is. I'll ask Kevin his thoughts as to whether or not there is a way to do it....

Sorry I can't give R2 owners better news.

Many thanks for replying. For me it's not a huge deal, although it's yet another incentive to get that VIP upgrade :).
