I'm very nearly about to buy tracktion. Or maybe wait for T2.

But reading this forum is just horror story after horror story.

You guys should talk more about when things go great and Tracktion shone.

Maybe I should do a search on the forum or something.

Won't hear any complaints from me. I love Tracktion. Definitely the best multi-track app I've ever owned and by far the most stable ( cubase locked up every time I tried to delete a track...).
as for the "I want this and I want that" folks....seems to me that all they want to do is make it more like those other multi-track apps...
Anyway, that's my 2 cents...
Thanks for letting me vent...

I don't know but when I was thinking of purchasing tracktion, all the stuck up pro audio people said it was amazing and the next best thing. Cha ching to mackie + jules! It is my new sequencer! No more old school trackers to compose music for me! ;)

I  Tracktion!

The bottom line is: I enjoy making music more than I did when I used Cubase. 8)

I think the vast majority of Tracktion users are very happy.
It's in the nature of these boards to address wishes and point out problems they encounter.
Just to come here and say everything works great is simply not an interesting point for a discussion board.
But since you asked for it , here it is:

Tracktion is simply the best.
There is no other program out there like it.
The workflow is simply amazing and unbeatable.
The sound quality is first rate.
The price is dirt cheap.
Trackion never crashed yet on my computer.
All VST's I tried so far (and I tried a lot) all worked without any problem.

And the best part (this is a sentence you will find all over this board from many users)

"I finished more songs with Tracktion in 4 months then I did in the past 4 years with the other program I owned before"

Part of a discussion forum is to improve and understand the product. If you understand it and don't want it improved, there's not much point to the forum! :D

However, point taken-- it IS a "discussion" forum and not just a support forum. Every now and then someone makes the call for positive stories, and this time it happens to be you... and that CAN'T be a bad thing!!

Here's one:

My dad's a musician, and has always had to do really low-tech home recordings. 4-Track Portastudio... Casio keyboard drum-beats (ugh!)... really horrible stuff that didn't inspire his creativity.

He's not completely computer illiterate, but he doesn't tend to explore the technology's potential, using it for web surfing and communication, mainly. So for the heck of it, I decided to show him how to record in Tracktion, using a "stompbox and 4-track" paradigm ("paradigm"...hee hee) as a jumping-off point. Well, no worries. Totally understood it and is at least a little curious about getting back into recording. He's learning keyboard now and has bought a newer "Casio" (It's actually Yamaha) keyboard with better sounds and-- MIDI out! He figured he'd have to send the audio output from his keyboard to the computer, but I showed him that unless he REALLY wants the native Yamaha sounds (likely not), it's easy to control sounds on the computer.

Well, we dicked around with a MIDI bassline, but in the end he just recorded a bassline using his trusty old Fender Jazz. I supplied a drum loop (from CM mag and Beta Monkey in issue 71), he played a bassline, I did an acoustic rhythm, an electric rhythm, and a delay-drenched (to hide the mistakes) electric lead. Before you knew it, we had a completed 12-bar blues in A minor. I did a few minor tweaks with EQ and panning, but as it's not a 'full' project, I didn't get into it too much.

Here's what it sounded like, for the curious... though I have to confess, I re-recorded the bassline myself because I didn't adjust my mixer levels and my dad's was clipping a bit. I didn't tell him that, though. ;)

Which isn't to say there weren't some hurdles... for example, I couldn't figure out how to turn off the Green Auto-Wah from time to time... so it's all wah all the time. <chuckle>

I really like Tracktion. In it´s current state it really does what I need. Sure, I just record audio and use the midi for drums and piano-stuff som I'm not a hard core user

Some things have worked a bit different than I expected and therefore one might easily shout "It´s a bug" when in fact it's not - but requires a different approach or way of thinking.
Most things are easy to learn, other are are difficult and require the aid of this great community to understand.

With the amount of users increasing that all have newbie questions, it may look like there are lots of problems though. The "big" sequensers aren´t exactly without bugs either

So if you ask me - I am all positive :)

For the price, Tracktion is amazing.

But once you use it for awhile, you notice many small flaws. Thats ok, I personally can live with them. These small flaws can be very frustrating, though, because Tracktion is SO close to perfection.

It's hard not report irritating bugs without that emotion coming through in the post.

There are irritating things about Tracktion for some users. What's wrong with bring up these issues?

Sometimes the forum seems afraid to tell the emporer he's not wearing any clothes!

I just bought Tracktion and am making music again for the first time in a couple of years. I'm a new dad, so I don't have large chunks of time to dedicate to sitting in front of the computer. I found many other programs seemed to work against me and my limited schedule. I was spending most of my time trying to figure out why something wasn't working. Tracktion seems to be much faster, easier to use, and just doesn't get in the way. Thanks Jules!

Thanks folks.

The gloom has lifted! I know all software has it's problems and all that. I just wanted to read some happy words. Lunch Moneys story was particularly warming.

Any of you chaps had any dealings with Podium? (Competitor!) Looks interesting? Couldn't get a ruddy peep out of it myself (score for Tracktion there) There is no KvR review as yet. I'll search.
