Band Editor - discussion

At the moment, the Band Editor has a range of +/- 24 dB.



I think that in some cases I would like to be able to change this, e.g to +/-12 dB, +/-6 dB or +/-3 dB for easier adjustment and more visible levels at the lower settings. Perhaps add these to the "Band management ... " window?

PS What does "Expand band" do?

Also, perhaps increase the Band Editor height when the GUI height is increased by dragging the bottom-right corner of the GUI.

Anybody-else?

Well,

- Gain - sorry, but I don't think it is worth all the trouble. After all it's usually used for "creative stuff" and you can always just ctrl+drag to fine tune.

- Expand band makes the band solo and process the full frequency range, hence the crossover is disabled and other bands too.

- Resizing it - I don't think it's necessary either and it would be very very problematic... The main point is settings crossover frequencies. Vertical range is only for gains and you can fine tune using ctrl.

I'm sure it would be a lot of work to get it to nicely do that, but honestly I don't think 24 dB is the scale I would like. You could probably put this kind of thing into the still editor. Yes, you can get better fine-tuning with control, but it's rare I want to go more than +- 10 dB on those things, so a scale of +- 12 dB would be a lot better from a workflow perspective.

Here's the thing - the "noncreative" plugins, like MMultiBandDynamics for example, also have a dedicated input gain. And for creative effects it just doesn't matter really...

That's what I was asking myself. So they basically have double gain control? But gain control in the band editor is an OUTPUT gain, right?

Yes, there are 2 of them. The band editor has INPUT gain.
