LFO Frequency Limit

Hi, I need a synth that can have its Pitch/Amplitude modulated between 0-1000 Hz. MUX LFO oscillator only goes up to 25 Hz. Does anyone know of a (simple, i.e one I can understand!) way to overcome this? Grateful for any ideas.

Currently there is no way to overcome this. That will need audio rate modulations. Maybe in some future version MUX will support that.

Hi Jo,
Thanks for quick reply. I can do what I want up to 25 Hz by using automation sub track controlling LFO Frequency. I thought I might be able to replace LFO with a 2nd oscillator and control its pitch via sub track. Thanks anyway.

When you want to modulate an oscillator/synth's pitch by eg a 1000 Hz sine wave this is real FM and indeed needs audio rate processing. About controlling amplitude: You could try using a ring modulator

Hi again Jo,
Guessed it might need FM Modulation. Tried the Ring Modulator and by playing around with both Osc waveforms can get very nearly what I want. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Just another tip: When ring modulating, also try to put a Audio Pos/Neg Splitter after the modulator output (thus before the ring mod), then an audio inverter on the Neg out of that splitter then the Pos out of the splitter together with the inverter out both to the ring modulator input. This way you get another type of ringmodulating with the same signals. And maybe more what you are looking for? Keep on experimenting!

Didn't quite catch that. Started with blank MUX. Have put Osc 1 output to RM input 1 and Osc 2 output to Audio Pos/Neg Splitter. Pos output of Splitter goes to RM Input 2, neg goes to Inverter and then to RM Input 2. Not getting anything like what I want. Have I misinterpreted?

Yep that's what i meant. It's a variation on ring modulation and gives another type of sound than when connecting the osc 2 straight to the RM in 2.J4ck Fl4sh wrote:Hi Jo,

Difficult to answer for me as i don't exactly know what you want.Not getting anything like what I want. Have I misinterpreted?

It does give a different type of sound - I'll keep experimenting. I've already stumbled across some useful avenues for development of other noises. Thanks for a great piece of software and thanks for your help on this issue.
