Well you may not save $100 if ST3 is not what you expected, then what you have spent can turn into a waste.

I will hang back wait until a deal comes along, IK are famous for their 'No Brainers' and this way I will have time to see the feedback on ST3 with any issues highlighted and will know if the upgrade is worth it to me.

I may have risked buying the pre-release upgrade but not at 97.59 Euro.

Post

I have pad 91 Dollars = 67 Euro for what?

An huge new sound library
a complete new GUI
64 Bit engine finally
support of Sampletank 2 libraries

You update Komplete since years for 129 Dollar and how long is this library the same?
The price is absolutely fair ;)

+ I don't expected any big deal at the next time on Sampletank 3. This would be a marketing fail for the company and they want to get back the money who invest in the development ;)

I was being ironic. :)

SampleTank 2 is 10 years old. The latest addons for it are what, 7-8 years old now? They still sound great. Dated, not very detailed, sometimes wacky, but the sounds themselves are crafted way better than anything, given the memory footprint of each preset. after all this time, IKMM has gained much expertise in this area, and, if i'm not mistaken, you can already hear some of the ST3 presets in SampleTank for iDevices. do they sound like crap? IKMM has stepped up their game very much - the amps, the T-Racks modules, everything is top-notch. from where i'm standing, there's nothing to worry about.
Why haven't they already got hour long demo videos going through a few hundred of the instruments? What are we supposed to base this purchasing decision on? About ten minutes of about five instruments, and useless pictures of instruments?

And to reiterate what somebody else just said, why is there no free 64 bit version? I have run FL Studio in admin. mode (and used to have to run Renoise in admin. mode when I had it) in order to run Sampletank 2.2. Why should I and all other happy ST 2 owners have to pay for something almost ALL other developers give away for free as an update - a 64 bit version?

This is just crazy. You should keep the price down for the first few months. I wouldn't even buy it on the day of release, I need to see reviews, or a demo version (and obviously a demo won't contain all 33GB, so I'd sooner see reviews of it on Youtube that others have done.)
if you buy at this price now, then you will easily get your money back (even when factoring in the license xfer fee). this is what's making me think to take a punt, as i could make a great package deal with miroslav and the tron stuff, if i found i didn't need it
What if it turns out to be not very good? How many presets have we heard from it? Five? Eight? Out of 4,000? They can't even do a few hour long videos demonstrating the sounds, and instead we get useless pictures? We all know what a piano, a bass, a guitar, and a violin look like. We don't need pictures. We don't even need pictures when using the VST. I presume everybody here can read.
i already said that if it turns out to be crap, you will lose no money in selling it off (in fact, you might even make a small profit)

as far as i am concerned, at the intro price, i am happy that i can get to continue using miroslav, while benefitting from a gm-style mix of sounds. i am in the market for some nice piano sounds, and it seems that these might make the grade. for 67 euros, the pianos, plus my 64bit miroslav, make for enough value for me to justify the punt. i am also in the market for more ethnic stuff, so this could also be a good general library

i have enough reasons to not go for it, but a few compelling one's to go for it (risk-free being the clincher). were i not to have such a decent upgrade path, then things would be very different. your situation may also be different

This is presuming that I can resell it.

Which 'these' are you referring to? Can you show me videos of the piano sounds? Why haven't they already made loads of videos demoing hundreds of the instruments?

Again - based on what? Where have you heard all of this? Have I missed a new demo video?

the Sounds page wrote:SampleTank 2 instruments

For your convenience — and to avoid the hassle of converting your previous SampleTank 2 XL sounds — all of those prior sound libraries are included in SampleTank 3. Already imported, properly categorized and easy to access, previous users will immediately find sounds they are familiar with. And new users will have an additional arsenal of bread-and-butter sounds that have made history. Plus, previous users will also be able to import their previous Combi (now Multi) instruments and be ready to go.

ST3 INCLUDES all the ST2 factory instruments ???

Seriously !! After swearing to myself I would not get involved with Ikmultimedia again, I have found myself having to debate whether I should take a risk at this price. I have decided to go for it, just......So please don't expect me to spend any more time trying to convince someone else of something i have, myself, taken a chance on; your risk is your own, son

there are audio examples on their site. work out if you like the sounds, work out your upper limit to pay for the sounds given (in the examples offered), then determine whether previous products makes it worth it for you

¡Ya esta!

if you look around, you'll find plenty of demos with sounds from SampleTank for iOS. those alone are enough to judge ST3 sound quality. and they don't disappoint.

um... because they chose to do so? why do some developers sell plugins for $15 and others for $249? wouldn't it be great if they all were for the same price? i know it's not quite the same, but my point still stands - it is their choice and their decision. with which, i might add, i can totally relate to, regarding 64-bit support. sometimes it's better to start over than to adapt an old codebase to 64-bit.

why didn't they release a player? well, i'm sure it'll be there. just wait. if you're so hell-bent on *not* buying ST3, then don't. the free player will most likely eventually arrive, and you'll be happy.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

There are 50+ videos posted on the Sweetwater advertisement.

See: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ST3up-e/

Most are Jordan Rudess going through 40 or so of the sounds. You see him playing so you get some idea of the keyswitching and control for some.

Is Sweetwater the only authorized vendor for the pre-order?

You cannot be serious. When I ask 'why haven't they released a free 64 bit player', your answer is 'because they chose to do so'... When did anybody say it wasn't their choice or decision? The fact is that most other developers have released FREE 64 bit upgrades to their existing plugins.

So for the record: I'm not buying ST3, and never will buy another IKM product again.

Thanks for the info - are they available on the IK website? Pretty strange to have them on another website and not their own. How are people supposed to know about it?
