I have tried and am lost. How do I import multi-velocity WAV samples ?
A step by step guide would be helpful for :
- Importing a kit piece like bass drum (with many velocity layers), setting the correct velocity layers (automatically) , and permanently saving in a user folder for future use .
BUT i do not want to modify or add to any existing kits. I want to define it new from scratch.

Any help at all on this.
I tried using the sample anaylyzer and while it did import the sample layers correctly for some, it ended making four kits....I have no idea why.
There are many avialble free and commercial sampled acoustic kits that I would love to import into Mdrummer. For example Analogue Drum's Free Mono samples.
But im lost as to how to fo it. The manual pdf mentions drag and drop to drum list but I tried doing this from Reaper's medai explorer and it had no effect at all.
Im also afraid I'll screw up some of the existing kits forever , so Im not going wild with experimentation.

Well,
a) Just select samples in your system explorer/finder and drag & drop them into the drumset editor while having bass drum selected for example. Then just save it as a different drumset.
b) Use sample analysis & import, at the last page enable the multilayer processing and your drum will appear in "components". So you can access it from drumset designer.

The drag n drop from browser is not working in Reaper.
I tried to drag n drop 16 velocity layers of kick drum (using Reaper's media browser) to the bass drum 1 component in the drum list. Nothing happened.

You probably have to use system explorer, not Reaper's internal browser, which is probably designed for using inside Reaper only. Which OS btw?

Ok, please use the system explorer. There's apparently a bug in Reaper, which makes all "\" in the path replaced by "\\". We'll go around it in the next update, it's not a big deal to hack this, but if you want help faster, I suggest asking Cockos.

Thanks for the reply. I will try with the system explorer and confirm.MeldaProduction wrote:Ok, please use the system explorer. Well it didnt work with the system explorer either.
I opened the standalone MDrummer 5 , went to the Drumset Editor and tried to drop in around 12 velocity layers of a kick drum onto bass drum 1 as shown in the drum list. I dragged and dropped from the windows explorer.
Nothing happened.
Win 8 / 64 Bit.

No idea, I just checked and everything is fine. Just make sure you drop the files onto the "Layer source" section.

Yeah that did the trick !! Finally i can use my entire multi velocity drum sample collection.
When i drop the samples on a drum in the drum list, it auto layers them to multivelocity. But its not clear if the velocity ranges are assigned based on the sample file names, rms level, peak level or some other criteria ?

Great, I'm glad it is ok now!
It uses loudness detection to get the layer values.

Yeah it looked like loudness detection . Two questions :
- By loudness do you mean RMS level or peak value ?
- Can i change the auto velocity layering to be sorted by file name instead of loudness ?
Im asking because sometimes it sorts them incorrectly...

It is some RMS based detection. You cannot change it I'm afraid, but you can always edit it manually.
