No, they can't be used for the pre-order.

Let's get out of the spinzone.

you can buy from sweetwater (details earlier in this thread), that'll be like 67 EUR. i did that already :-)
not for europeans.

I didn't say that, now did I? Let's get out of the "skimming" zone. Introductory pricing is not preorder pricing and (thanks for the opportunity to post the link again) details can be found here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=4109

Since it isn't clear apparently, here's the pricing for preorder, introductory, and full/final periods with SampleTank 3, I realize I didn't post this directly yet:
SampleTank 3 will be available for download in July. From now until its release, it can be purchased at these special pre-order prices*:

• Upgrade $99.99/€79.99
For all SampleTank 2 XL and Miroslav Philharmonik full users (including Total Studio and Total Workstation users)

• Crossgrade $149.99/€119.99
For all IK users of paid software, apps and hardware

• Regular version $249.99 /€199.99

Prices are valid until release. Special pre-order prices will change on release to the following introductory prices*:

• Upgrade $149.99/€119.99
• Crossgrade $199.99/€159.99
• Regular $299.99/€239.99

Boxed version will also be available after release.

Introductory prices will be valid for 2 months, the following will be the final prices*:

• Upgrade $199.99/€159.99
• Crossgrade $249.99/€199.99
• Regular $349.99/€279.99

* Prices are excluding Taxes. JamPoints or coupons cannot be applied on pre-orders. Invoicing and charge will be made at order receipt, and product will be shipped by end of July.

It's difficult to know what is being said, how come a lot suddenly turns to some?:
I've seen a lot call them useless

My point was that if some folks on forums call them "useless"

I didn't say PREORDER pricing (hopefully the caps help you understand). Nice spin zone move yourself there, though. Again, if you are not following me or I'm not answering your questions please feel free to use the other contact methods available to you.

there's a download version, so yes, for europeans too (speaking as a european...) :-)
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

@Peter first you said 3rd party retailer will have the upgrade after pre-order and now sweetwater is selling it. if i had known this before i had could avoid 22% vat that i paid now by ordering from IK site. i just want to tell you that i trusted in your words.

not a fan of ik multimedia's marketing/reps but i do have to say for the "long term" user the $99 pre-order is pretty nice... there are some nice features in the product... not only for producers but working musician/soloist... my problems all along with ik multimedia is their marketing and reps... but as far as the products go... i have always been satisfied... i had to be honest with myself... i will spend $100 on a bag weed... and that will be up in smoke in no time... but ST 3 will be here 10 years from now when ST 4 is release... i still have no respect for ik multimedia's marketing or reps... but paying $99 for ST 3 upgrade is a no-brainer... in other words... "never cut off your nose to spite your face"...

p.s. i ordered my copy from sweetwater... actually my rep called me about ST 3!!!

We charge VAT as required so if you were required to pay it through us, I would you should be required to pay it through other dealers though I'm not a lawyer nor do I work at Sweetwater. I believe I stated that 3rd party dealers would not be able to beat the preorder pricing in context (and quoting, I believe) discussion about other dealers not Sweetwater. Peter, you didn't explain why you charge 7.99 euros to 'reactivate' (LOL) a download of something I already paid 15 odd euros for, and only downloaded once - hence it cost you about 0.001p in bandwidth.

How long will we be graced with the ability to download ST3 once we've paid for it? How many times can we download it? You do know that technology has moved on since ten years ago, and charging people to re-download things like this isn't on? Will you be making it extremely clear to all buyers that they will lose the ability to redownload ST3 for free after a certain date, if that is indeed the case? I would also appreciate hearing your company's reasoning behind trying to get away with this ridiculous charge. I can post up ten different hosting companies that offer hosting with which you could run your 're-downloads' (which, by definition, are going to be a thousandth of the download bandwidth of demoes and new sales of software, since most people aren't constantly re-downloading VSTs they've bought in the past.) Several potential customers are telling you WHY you're driving them away (because of your company's greed and inability to even see it) and you just act like it's no problem to you and stroll on. Unbelievable. Why aren't you offering to DO something about it?

I have to agree. I don't know what the fuss is all about quite frankly. I've paid much more for a lot less.

And, although I would have still qualified for an "early adopter" discount, the fact that IK opened up the largest discount to ALL 2XL owners (and MIRO owners) should be considered a big bonus for many here.

Would it be nice to use Jampoints? Sure.
Is it nice that Sweetwater can shave a bit more off the price? Absolutely, and many will take advantage of this.

But don't lose sight of what you're getting: A totally new build with backward compatibiliy for all your current ST libraries. For $99. Seriously?

Cheers

Glad you got a good deal. As always and as offered in the past, you are free to contact me directly (or others directly if you wish) about whatever has caused you to lose respect for IK's reps and IK. I'm still willing to discuss issues with you one-on-one, the offer stands.

what i mean is that on the ik site it stipulates that the offer also applies for those of us who own full miroslav
As a owner of Miroslav Philarmonik I wanted to be sure that the upgrade would be OK through Sweetwater.
I asked them per email.

This is what I asked:
teacue wrote:You mention some brand restrictions on how to use gift certificates.
Is it possible to use a gift certificate to buy the IK Multimedia Sample Tank 3 upgrade?

I would like to buy the upgrade to SampleTank 3 download.
I do not own ST 2 XL but I own Miroslav Philharmonik Full version.
According to IKMultimedia website the owners of Miroslav Philharmonik are also entitled for this upgrade.
On your website you mention only "upg. from ST 2 XL".
Are you entitled to sell this upgrade to Miroslav Philarmonik owners?
Here is the answer from Sweetwater:
sweetwater wrote:You can use it for the upgrade.

However, It would not be the upgrade from ST2xl, it would be the crossgrade from IK products.
ItemID: ST3cg-e.
So it seems as if when you buy through Sweetwater it is not possible to upgrade from Miroslav for $99,99 but only crossgrade for $149,99!

Best regards
