Great, just like the ultra analog update, whereas before all the edit parameters were in one panel, now we get lots of tabs to click back and forth between. Thanks AAS. I love lots of clicking between tabs.

I have string studio, but honestly never use it. I always end up using sculpture in Logic if I'm in the mood for physical modeling (which is pretty close to never). Maybe I'll sell mine so someone can use it to upgrade if they want it.

I love String Studio... I find it one of the most expressive and enjoyable synths to play... but this update sounds really disappointing to me...
basically, they changed that GUI (which I liked just fine) and added some effects. What I really was looking for was some improvements to the sound engine like some increased modulation choices... more parameters which can be modulated, some random modulation options, an extra envelope etc, maybe a new exciter model and so on...
I'll get the update cause it is finally 64 bit... which I appreciate, but otherwise

my upgrade decision is 64 Bit and new GUI

For me 64 bit and the preset browser are worth it provided the upgrade is not much but I am very disappointed (although not in the least bit surprised) that there is no improvement to the sound engine - pity because this also says something about the chances of a decent update to Tassman - if they are not developing new technology but just reskinning old tech all the time then the chances of a radically new Tassman seem even more remote. They seem to be creating the semblance of development while actually not moving forwards much at all.

According to the link above, its exactly that. New patches, new patch manager, new FX, new UI. Oh, and microtuning support. No changes to the sound engine mentioned.aMUSEd wrote:VS 1 isn't - there are some attempts at orchestral strings but not convincing. I hope this isn't just another "update" on the order of UA2 which is really just a reskinned UA1 with a few new fx and a worse GUI but no significant changes to the sound engine (maybe just a few new fx).electro wrote:Is VS-2 capable of real orchestral strings? An idiot on Set Theory:

OK microtuning is good at least, wish they added that to Chromaphone though (then they still haven't added pitchbend despite years of promising).

Strangely, the VST of VS-1 has been 64-bit for Windows for some time.pdxindy wrote:I'll get the update cause it is finally 64 bit... which I appreciate, but otherwise

Yes Sir...That's exactly what they did to Ultra Analog...pdxindy wrote:This update sounds really disappointing to me...

It's the same synth with a new GUI and a few effects.....
Not really an upgrade at all...
Just a little bit of rouge and some lipstick...
The're obviously not very inspired over at AAS these days
No auto tune...

AAS Ultra Analog's GUI is horribly small, and badly designed. I simply can't use it.
Hopefully they don't do the same with String Studio VS-2.
I also wonder if they will ever release a new version of Tassman ?

To me this makes it less likely - at least it doesn't look like they are doing anything to develop and expand the core technologies used for physical modelling - I guess we will see another makeover and 64 bit for Mac at some point but not what we really want which would be some new PM modules.Muziksculp wrote:AAS Ultra Analog's GUI is horribly small, and badly designed. The LL4 upgrade was pretty unspectacular too.digitalboytn wrote:Yes Sir...That's exactly what they did to Ultra Analog...pdxindy wrote:This update sounds really disappointing to me...

And not even compatible with LL3 presets which means having to have both on my systemwhyterabbyt wrote:The LL4 upgrade was pretty unspectacular too.digitalboytn wrote:Yes Sir...That's exactly what they did to Ultra Analog...pdxindy wrote:This update sounds really disappointing to me...
