Since I still had V1.07 on my debian setup,
I thought I'd see if the alien command, would work
to make a .deb out of the .rpm

It apparently worked, as the dpkg -i install was successful,
and I could jiggle enough memory cells free, to remember
how to record something. The debian package is 14 meg
larger, than the rpm from whence it came

Anyway, when such things work, it reminds me that extremely
talented/hard-working people are on the loose, and for
a price, be it time or money, we can partake of their genious,
and put it to good use. Thanks for hosting the rpm

I don't recall any output from alien -d, or dpkg -i, they just ran for a minute or so, the new .deb was created, and the app installed. But I probably gathered the xcb dependencies for the initial debian install, from some packages archive site. This is on bodhi 2.3, which is based
on ubuntu LTS, 12 or 13.04

There are a lot of libxcb in the system,

libxcb-util0 0.3.8-2
libxcb-keysyms1 0.3.8-1build1
libxcb-icccm4 0.3.8-1build1

ten others all show installed version 1.8.1-1ubuntu0.2

But I think I don't understand what is meant by 'solution'?

A big thanks to everybody contributing to this effort!
It's great to see the Linux spirit at work

I recently deleted Ubuntu Studio and went for Mint Mate 17 which I prefer a lot.
Seems to work great so far with BWS.

BTW. I recently learned that Ubuntu 14.04 is fully supported with the latest releases - not sure if I was the only one missing this bit.

Things desired for the linux version:

Allowing arrange/mix/edit/browser views to be open simultaneously,
and active, on a configurable mixture of separate virtual desktops, and/or separate monitors.

Having an option to choose a dedicated linux file browser, as some
DAW's allow choosing a dedicated audio editor.

This article/comments has some script and xorg.conf examples,
that could help linux users put extra monitors to work,
including a portrait mode example, handy for coding and document viewing sessions.
