Hi

Just purchased MAutoDynamic eq which is fantastic, however spikes CPU in Studio One 2.62 when sonogram is on. Disabled the GPU acceleration and all is fine, haven't noticed any huge usage increase in doing this.

That's more likely an incompatibility with your video adapter than with Studio One. GPU acceleration is a tricky business to get right and be universal, which is why almost no plugin vendors even attempt it (Fabfilter being the only other I know of).

Tx , I rather suspected that, not a big deal really a heads up to anyone else seeing this. On another note, an astonishing plugin that really just caught my eye as it was on sale, highly recommended. Will have to check out other Melda plugins.

Look out, it's a slippery slope...you start with one, next thing you're weighing next month's rent against the Total Bundle.

Thank you folks!

For the record, which GPU (or notebook) are you using? Just in case I could check it out myself.

Vojtech, this may not be relevant, but it was also an ATI Radeon here that you helped me with when I couldn't get the GPU acceleration to work.

Post

Well, sadly it's always ATI Radeon... I didn't have a single problem with NVidia, but ATI Radeon (whichever of them) are apparatenly pieces of junk, or more like the drivers are just wrong... And of course ATI has virtually no support... Unfortunately I have one too...

Anyway the configuration above seems like a really hardcore computer, except for the GPU, which is not even being sold anymore :o .
I'll check behaviour on Macs in Studio One then, but I have no other reports like this.

Btw do you mean CPU spikes or audio problems? If the audio is working correctly, then there is no reason to think there is something wrong - the graphics try to use all available resources to make the response smooth enough, but not colliding with audio processing.

You can see the CPU meter spiking and audio glitches when it goes into the red.

I just checked in MacBook Pro, and sonogram slightly increases CPU usage of course, but just a tiny little here.

The MacBook has just Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384MB VRAM. That actually explains a lot... How is that possible that for such an expensive i7 MacBook it has just such a piece of junk GPU... Just like in your Mac Pro... Anyway it works here without problems.

I'll do some more tests, but I don't suppose I'm going to find any breakthrough... How much the CPU rises in your case?

The CPU rises a little bit with the sonogram but then starts to fluctuate and peak.

BTW

Great review and run through from computer music

Well, I guess it would be better to keep the GPU disabled for now, and probably get a newer GPU in the future (not sure if that's even possible with macs though...)

And yes!! A review!
